And that's exactly where I'd be torn. On one hand, I'd like to go check out a new show. On the other, I don't like to reward that type of posturing.

I have mixed feelings too. It's not a great gesture. But I've seen the other side as well. Canby is a great show because of the people who attend. The actual event itself.. not all that appealing. Could be much better than past years.

What they are doing is just sucky. And well childish. Doesnt excuse DNW (not that I even knew about any of that before yesterday), but this is just retribution and it hurts more than the intended target.

One guy is causing all this, he needs to change the date of his meet.

I think it could have went a lot different had Steve addressed the situation head on. He is the president, and he chose not to.. at least up until this point.

Re: Candy 2016
Well I'm going to have a meet on the second weekend in June.
Named it Can'tbe.
Raffles of Doritos and Dr. Pepper 10. If anyone wants to show up PM me and I'll give you my address. Although I'll probably get you to help work on my car or we can just sit in it and make vroom vroom sounds.
Really though, looking from the outside it does look intentional.
Whatever you guys (& gals) decide to do, enjoy it and try to leave the politics at the gate.

Re: Candy 2016
This is quite funny to me, as I have personally seen this a few times in my life, one time I actually was involved, but I didn't pick the name.
There is a place near Disney world in Florida called the Wallaby Ranch, it is a place where people go to fly Hanggliders, they also go there to learn to fly Hanggliders, I went there in 2001 for a month and a half and had a lot of fun, they supply everything there on site, showers, bunks to sleep on, even small rooms for couples, breakfast and lunch, places for tents, even entertainment sometimes, they didn't supply dinner, you had to deal with that yourself.
Well some of my friends went there also, and when they came back they decided they were going to try and do something like Wallaby but without the camping and food, just the flying part, they came up with the name, the Wannaby Ranch, the Wallaby Ranch thought it was great, name and everything, but my friends are 3000 miles away from Wallaby, not in the same state.

Re: Candy 2016
I will be at Canby part of the time this year. I have gone for 10 or more years now (maybe every year it has been going?),& I will continue to go as long as there is a Canby show to go to. I was one of the people that volunteered to help out last year,& I went to every DNW meeting since, until they changed the meeting time to Saturday mornings. I work Saturdays, that's the only reason I haven't been going to thier meetings since.
I was not one of the people who picked the location, or date of Rat's with Dats, but it falls to me to try and make the best of the situation. I sincerely hope everyone else will do the same. This can be a positive thing, especially for those of us that live out of state, have to request time off months in advance, etc. Many of those people either could not, or would not be able to attend both events, if they were on different weekends. This can give us the opportunity to attend BOTH EVENTS.
My responsibilities as part of the leadership of Datslocos Oregon will require me to be at Rat's with Dats all day Saturday, at the very least. I am attempting to organize a caravan leaving early Sunday from Rat's with Dats, to the Canby event, so that those of us who choose to attend both great shows can travel together. That should make the trip more fun,& give a bit of safety, in case of any breakdowns.
In the future, I hope to work with the leadership of DNW, to coordinate events, in order to make the weekend a more positive, fun filled weekend for everyone. As for this year, the Caravan between both events is the best I can do. The dates cannot be changed. It is what it is.
