I've had it on my list for a while but it wasn't really close to the top. I was just browsing CL and happened upon the ad. Got it for about 25% of list price so I couldn't pass it up.

This house deal sure is taking longer than expected. We're having to do waaay more legwork than a buyer normally ever would. There's too many people involved and for a cash deal it's ridiculously complicated. The final document we've been waiting on should be in hand later today and actual final signing should be tomorrow. I really have my dad to thank for orchestrating much of it. Since he's local, he's been handling most of the details. Would have been really expensive and time consuming for me to do it from this distance. In fact, it probably just wouldn't have been feasible.
The sellers may be renting back for the remainder of the year. That should offset the carrying cost for a couple months at least. I'm hoping to get the official irrigation handled soon as well as getting the plans to the architect for some tweaks but won't start on any actual construction until next summer. That timeline may move up depending on whether I actually wait to list my place next May or we decide to list earlier.
One other thing -- I think my boss may know something is up. I haven't discussed any of this at work but an employment verification request came to the shop yesterday. The manager told me about it and I'm not sure if he intercepted and handled it or the owner actually saw it. I'll wait for him to make the first move, otherwise it'll probably be standard 2 weeks notice. I'm getting really tired of working on cars and I'm afraid once I have this out I may jump ship early in favor of the Idaho job I mentioned earlier. Just not too excited about being 7 hrs away from my family...most of the time.

Yeah that shit would suck, being away.
Y'all are making it happen though, good on you for that. Personally I hate change & it's part of the reason we've lived in the same "too small" house for 13 years.
Finally broke down and contacted an agent last Wednesday to come by the house for pictures and to list it for us.
Good luck with what you have going on. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out.

Thanks, man. I wouldn't be doing any of this if I didn't truly believe it was a positive direction. I we keep going the way we are we'll be falling more financially behind with each passing year. Plus, it's just to damn crowded around here.
Signed papers this morning. Once it's recorded Tuesday morning (Monday is a "holiday") the deal is done. The seller wants to rent back and if that doesn't work out the selling agent says she has a couple good tenants lined up that would be willing to rent short term. This will be a huge help because I'm not super excited to be carrying 2 houses for the next 8 months. I can do it but it's going to put me on a strict Ramen lifestyle.

It's a bit of a drive from Gato-land but you're welcome any time.
The town is Marsing, population @1000. Right on the Snake River about 25 miles south of Ontario, Or (Or/Id border) on I84. About 10 miles east of the Oregon border. It's a small farming town on the edge of wine country. Has the potential to get uppity but probably never will be.
I'll have no neighbors in sight to the north. The guy to the south is a super cool old dude. Nothing to the west and a 2 lane road to the east. It actually reminds me a lot of how my current place was when I was a little kid. As long as Intel doesn't move in down the street it should stay pretty quiet for quite some time. Nampa/Caldwell are only a 15 minute drive so I'm not really that far from civilization. Probably a 4 day float trip to Kim's place. Bill probably knows where it is.

That's a trip from here.
It takes me a few hours to get to Kim's.
I can get to CDA quicker than yours or his places.

Since the Reaper project is pretty questionable at this point I figured I'd tie up some loose ends. Moved the Shotrod Sedan over to the shop and started to break it down for another trip to DMV. Evicted a couple mice and pulled the engine and trans. Then split them. I need to round up all the auction paperwork and hopefully tow it to town on Thursday or Friday. Once I know that's in motion I'll break the engine down for a reseal and Krylon rebuild. I plan to get it to the point that I can fire it up in-frame. Not necessarily driveable. Then decide if it gets sold or makes the move with me. I have a vision and still really want to build it but it may just not make sense.

Also, from Compound East, my dad is working on a teardrop trailer to tow behind his Harley. Not even done and already talking about selling it. Oh, where do I get it?

Couldn't remember if I posted this or not. My brother and I bought a bunch of parts a few weeks back. He got a grill, headlights, hood, and '36 fenders. I bought a really nice door and a set of '35 fenders.
He also found a replacement frame last weekend.

Great, so now he has parts to work on his truck instead of finishing your truck.
But really, congrats on scoring some excellent parts. That original metal is getting hard to find.
