I did not extend my welder cord, I made an extension cord that my welder plugs into, I had the cord, I just bought the ends I needed at Home Depot and put it together.
I now own a Millermatic Passport Plus, it runs on 120 or 220, I cannot recall if I have ever had it plugged into a 220 volt outlet, what I weld(sheet metal mostly), I can use 120V without any issues.
