gf said one of the brakes locked up on her and made the back tire skid for a while. She pulled off, it came free and smelled like burned rubber cuz of it. went super slow home...
Just took it for a spin, brakes are... off in some way. E-Brake is non existent anymore and it sounds like metal on metal, louder than shoe on drum sound.... Will take her to work in the AM, once I get off work in the carport she goes so I can remove the tire/drum and inspect WTF is going on. To me it seemed like a shoe broke, or just hit the end of its life

.. so ive seen 210 pads break twice. Both on the pumkin, because of a leaky wheel seal I think, shoe got saturated and crumbled.

she said she heard a loud pop. then the car slowed down and the tire skidded on its own. it scared her.
Then it stopped doing that, and the brakes don't feel the same.

That wouldn't be so bad. Spring would be pretty easy to replace. hopefully no further damage came from it.
Gotta goto work, then go pick her up after work 30 min round trip... Then I will pull the wheel of and see whats going on.

Just as i thought. but not as bad as I believed to be. The brake shoes have come apart. I am guessing one let go, then all the pressure made the second one let go. Didn't seem damp in there, just seems like old brake shoes. And it seems as if someone rode the fucking E-brake for a while
One had a giant crack.

This is the B it happened to? I thought she was driving the 210?
Just looks like old parts to me.
I had a 1982 Toyota truck come in the other day. Same description.
Sure as shit. Nothing left except the plates the shoes stick to and rivets.
Original shoes on a 328,000 mile rig.

replaced the fucked water pump, to see it squirt water out between the head and block. went to retorque the head bolt, and didn't even twist the head.. the head of the bolt just slipped off. Fuck. Ok, still runs alright, just leaks a little water. Got new head bolts from punkindave. Now it's being a cunt starting. the N safety switch is wonky. either its dead, or somethings going on in the tranny. idk which yet. But it thinks its in gear when its not. going to inspect right now to see what the issue is. may have to disconnect it all together and just jump it for now. having different days off is a bitch. Not enough time to work on it when im working and she's off, then she works when I'm off. never enough time to do it, it seems.
ah well. A quick read and off I go....

Got the majority of emissions junk removed last night. Still a couple things to do. Pulling the manifolds and head tonight...
I welded 5 different nuts to that broken stud. That fucker is wedged in there good. Hopefully i can get the head off with ease, then work on getting that bolt out.

so the busted bolt. I got a nut welded on it, 10 times, and it was just a nightmare.
So, i got out my irwin stripped bolt bits... Smashed one on there with a 5lb sledge, then turned it out! Here's the issue... it Came out a ways, but its still stuck. It just sits there and spins. I do believe it is out of the block. however it won't slide thru the head no matter what I do. So my only option is to pull the head.
IDK wtf is going on in there yet. I have a huge fear that someone helicoiled the block at some point and the helicoil is sticking to the head bolt. Won't know for sure till i get the head off. GF had to drive it to work today, not any worse than it has been.... So w/e I guess
