Yeah i figured out the wiring. Saw liquid on the carb plate. Sniffed it. Its water........

Opened the oil cap.......... :fuu: :fuu: :fuu: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.............


MISSION ABORTED. RETURNING TO SENDER.

well it feels like its just rust bubbles. as it peeled off a bit with my finger. as if it was new, and never had oil on it. should of at least had assembly lube.....

I jumped the starter and let it crank over for a bit till some oil got up there... Kicked the fuel pump on, hot wired it temp (since the wires are already cut I just figured out what wires go where) then cranked it......

Nothing, nothing, nothing... crank crank crank.... Shot some ether down the carb and she came to life. Carb looks like it has fuel in teh bowl, but IDK for sure. its not putting any fuel in the intake when I depress the gas pedal. so somethings funky about the carb. I will try and wipe off the cam lobe I took a picture of and see how it looks here in a bit, to see if the cam is shot.. Theres a bit of noise in the head, but nothing to insane. May just need the valves adjusted at the least.

Could just be water in the bowl. I'd drain it out and fill it through the vent tube with some fresh fuel. Is the accelerator pump not working?

I don't think anything on the carb is working. I hooked up power to the anti diesel, hear them click, connect everything and still nothing! I saw some nipples not plugged off, but I would think even with a vacuum leak it should still suck gas down there. But no, I don't think the accell pump is working. I can cycle the throttle and i don't hear gas squirting in there.

I ran the motor by firing it up and quick bursts of ether. After a minute of running the radiator has quite a bit of pressure. Enough when I pull the cap off it shoots a little fluid out. But when its running it idles a bit high but sounds fine?

IDK. with everything wrong I think I am best off just backing out of this deal.

After it ran I checked the lobe, its a bit grimy from the rust, feels dirty and has shit on the lobe.

I finished off the wiring except for two wires (the two that goto the T plug on the alternator) Everything else is good to go. I am finished and letting this go back :( Would have been a fun trip, but Just can't afford the truck and another motor right now.

There shouldn't be any pressure after a minute or so of running. This could be compression getting into the cooling system from a blown head gasket. If compression gets out, water can get in. It gets past the rings and might explain the high humidity that rusted that cam lobe?

Yeah, its going back to the owner :lol: I was thinking that too, mike. The heads effed, and at the least it needs a new head and head gasket. Who knows what the cylinders and walls look like until the head is off. :(

To bad, this would have been FUN!
