Picked up the truck from the exhaust shop yesterday, sounds good. Didnt change the entire system though since it was only 9k old. Just had the LS manifold connected to the pipe I had not cut out of the truck. So basically just the first three feet is new.
For some reason the rear of the truck really likes to try and hang out to the side when I turn?

That might require some extensive testing to pin down the cause

Ya, it is making a good gas mileage test rather difficult.
Really though, one of the main reasons that I did this swap is the claimed gas mileage potential of the LS motors.

Still driving on the same tank of fuel. I have never seen this many miles on a tank of fuel and its still at 1/4 tank. So it is looking promising.

Now that I have about 2300 miles on this motor, fuel mileage was staying at a very consistent 15.1. However, about 500 miles ago I got all the emissions crap tuned out of the computer and changed a couple of shift points, fan control temperatures. Now It looks like I am getting over 17 mpg. Not sure what changed to make that just, but I will take it. Need a few more takes through it at that numbers to be convinced its true though.

Who doesn't need a spare aluminum block LS motor? Found it in pick-n-pull. Price was right for an LS motor.

Yes, They have quite the interesting front differential. Know anybody that needs one?
I would like to find a stock GM oil pan/pickup tube to swap this differential pan out.

Ohhh, forgot to mention that I picked up a LS6 Z06 cam too. Basically the factory 400hp cam. I don't have the intake and heads to achieve all of that 400hp though. Maybe someday.

So, this block is sitting at the machine shop waiting for me to pick it up on Tuesday.
Had it bored from a 5.3 to a 5.7, New Mahle pistons/rings, Gen IV connecting rods(floating wristpins), crank polishing.
Have all new bearings, seals and gaskets waiting for it at the house.
Learning quickly that LS motors can get expensive very fast.
