Re: The never ending Project(s)
yeah i saw that. I don't think it has anything to do with that mang.
hell maybe it was just fluke thing? I really dunno. Shrug, still runs the same, still acts the same, still stays same temp. Hell maybe it was the car i parked to today that just happened to smell like that
Not UN-satisfied, just keeping a journal more/less. Not a single drop of any fluids on the ground, either.

Re: The never ending Project(s)
a guy i know down the street has a courier 4x4. said he is moving to bend... Dropped these off today! set of 31" light terrain tires. ftmfw
And, they are already on 6 lug rims... I need to clean them up a little bit, but don't have to. they are already balanced and ready to mount... (or so he said..) he ran them till he bought a new set. He got actual mud tires instead of light terrains.
Not bad for free! They are a little weather checked but should do alright. I like them, but IDK if i wanna lose any power using them. slight loss of power, little less MPG... Truck doesn't like hills much.. barely lugs at 50mph up hills in 4th...
Two have veery light camber wear, but still a ton of tread left. they are chewed a little from being used as a wheeler lol. but should do just fine if i use them

Re: The never ending Project(s)
me too!
pictars uploading now.
They rubbed a little, due to offset and size. if they sucked in a little further might have been ok? oh well. Didn't really notice a loss of power much, but won't really be able to tell until I go up a hill. I don't think they are too much more weight wise than my other tires. I did notice taking off from a stop, I needed to change how I did that... as it took a little more to take off. Clutch is fine, but I know it will need some replacing in the near future. Probably by end of summer since its a daily and I use it for the beach/moto bike riding. For where it rubbed, when the pics upload... What I did was pull the plastic to the size, then smack the metal lip flat with the floor, then put the plastic back. It barely rubbed the plastic as it is. However, if I were turning and hit a bump there was a small chance that lip that is spot welded together with another thing could have possibly sliced into the tire. instead of taking a chance I just made it all super smooth, then put the plastic back. didn't take a pic of where I smashed it in with a 5lb sledge. It turned out pretty good, just too lazy to pull phone out of pocket. It's effing warm out...
Two tires had slight camber wear. So i threw those on the back, keeping the meet for the front since they wear down faster.
Pics below!

Re: The never ending Project(s)
^^^ read above post, these are the pics for that post...
Looks more like a truck now! Or, well, at least not like grandpas truck I don't mind the rims, but these ones are pretty shitty. Probably going to paint them black. I spent about 20-30 minutes a rim with a wire wheel cleaning them up. First I was using 300 grit, but it was going to take way to long, and for these old ass rims were not worth my time. So they are already scuffed and down to metal in some spots... Some gloss black paint would do some wonders.
these tires a 31 vs 29 stockers. so a few inches taller! Sweet sauce, i checked my GPS and the speedo was damn near dead on... 59 on the speed was 60 on teh gps.

I know fat tires are hella rad and all, but I think I actually like the OG skinnys better. Not sure why.

Re: The never ending Project(s)
Its because both are the wrong size tire for the truck visually. So then you fall to one or the either. or neither...
But free tires are free tires.

Re: The never ending Project(s)
yeah I liked em too i suppose, I think I would like the originals better if they stuck out a little more... kinda set to far in. they are stacked up behind the house. maybe get some spacers? if they came out about an inch er two it'd be perfect.
And yeah, they are probably chevy offset or some shit...

Re: The never ending Project(s)
someone did donuts on the beach. I ran over the marks, was kind of a hard bump... truck stalled out shortly after and died. Had a hell of a time getting it going again. first time i looked in carb it didn't seem like anything was in there. was running rough as hell. like it was starving but i can't be sure it was that. anyways i saw it to the dot on the carb and it was still running like ass. Had to feather the throttle hard just to keep it going, not enough power to move it... double checked everything, kept doing it... after a few minutes if finally cleared up and ran like it always has... IDK wtf that was about....
Sooo... came home, and delete emissions. found where that hissing sound was coming from emission delete, runs really smooth. better than evar! pics... really wish i knew wtf made it die like that. I think maybe the hard jolt made the FP shut off and it took a minute to clear itself and run right... can't be positive tho
The last pic is where the hissing was coming from. There was a large split in one of the lines running to that. It won't idle with one of those wire plugs disconnected, and the other one will make it idle higher.. so I left them on and its normal.

Re: The never ending Project(s)
so i was having issues with the truck!
kept dying when I hit a bump hard bump... it acted like fuel, so i checked.. had fuel, pump was running.. thought maybe the hard bump was shorting something out? I know these are sensitive with grounds and such from past experience....
Wiggled jiggled moved the entire harness. would not could not re-create the problem, nor fix it when it was happening....
Talked to micro, his thought was fuel... when i hit the hard bumps it must have been getting sediments off the bottom of the carb and sticking in the jet... Well it did it again and i revved it till it finally sucked whatever was stuck in there out.. and its been fine since.
I inspected the fuel filter at the pump... Its a clear one, and looks clean.. but probably getting sand in there since ive been at the beach so much. the hoses are like sponges.. they are beyond gone.. So I need to get some new hoses and a new fuel filter. Should be good to go after that.
I tuned the carb after removing emssions... the thing runs like a fucking top... No miss, perfect idle... power seems on par. The air leak im sure was causing it to run lean which is bad bad bad....!!
Pretty happy with results... she needs two fuel lines, a filter, and a U joint (i can hear it clank).
I think I need to get the tires balanced again. feels like a weight fell off one after railing it across bumps... steering kinda wonky now too. these things are famous for the toe going out of adjustment from bumps/rough terrain.
Only other issue currently is a backfire when decell. My dad told me when I was a kid that is usually timing or something. so I need to find my timing light and make sure its at 5 degrees. if so, then I should run it till op temp and check air/fuel ratio... The cap/rotor/wires and plugs are all new....
I also remove teh white wire.. the way these things work, is the secondary plugs kick in when under a heavy load to help with emissions. removing the white wire makes both plugs fire same time all the time

Re: The never ending Project(s)
Loud back fire or small backfires? Check that ghetto rig of a exhaust patch. It would do that like a mofo.. patched it and it was gone completely.
You found that leak huh? WHERE THE FUCK?????
Glad to hear the miss is gone. woo hoo!

Re: The never ending Project(s)
yeah lol. Backfiring is caused by something, it's just heard more thru the hole. I already pulled the pop cans off and patched it with pipe from autozone. No pics of that horrible mess. that piece is so rusted I could hardly weld to it I need to replace the whole thing instead of patching it. luckily its just rusted in that one small section. once I get a few extra bucks it should be under a 10 dollar fix! Just already had a 2" exhaust coupler laying around. I split it down the side then took a square off and bent it to fit. Again, its fucking ugly And not fully patched. sounds the same as before, just no pop can
I do believe the leak was coming from this area... I found a split hose there.

Re: The never ending Project(s)
Nice work man!
That pop can fix was ghetto shit. But, it stopped the annoying backfire sounds and took 5 minutes.
According to dmike that sound was expected because of the leak. I just ran with it.. I did inquire about it though.
