Root cause is likely the carb or dizzy. I've swapped the dizzy and matchbox. Carb has been rebuilt but still could be the issue. Same behavior on old engine and new rebuilt l20.. so.. it has to be an auxiliary component.. or ground issue.

Just got home from blue lake. I took a bit of a detour on the way home. Put about 350 miles on the car just today. No issues what so ever.
Picked up some cool shit on the way home. Pictures tomorrow.. or should I say, late today.

Just Euro's.
I'm not running them. They are just a flip.
That 210 is Al's wife's new ride.

Planning a few upgrades before I drive down to Shasta.
Radiator, clutch, gauges, and repair the bottom of the drivers seat for more support.
Koyo and some speedhut gauges would be nice. not sure how quick speedhut can get the gauges to me though..

Nice.
Tangent question; Glanced at your cars list and saw the '71 2dr listed. Is there a thread somewhere on that car?

Naw.. not really. Right now it's more of a storage unit for 510 parts. It sits in my driveway and annoys the neighbor.

New clutch arrived, purchased koyo radiator.
Speedhut gauges are at least 2 weeks out.. so I might have to find a short term solution.

Tranny is halfway out. Just two bolts on the crossmember and 2 bolts on the bell housing.
Then these go in:

Stabbing a tranny on Jack stands by yourself is a bitch. Got it done... just a few more things to wrap up and on to the radiator and seat repairs.

thought it was easier to have the engine and trans together when dropping them into the engine bay ?
maybe it's different on the 510's compared to the 620's.

I have done that on my 510 once. Definitely need a leveler to do it (Well I didnt, but I had to readjust my chain like 3 times).
It really depends on what you are doing. If both the motor and tranny are out, then I put the tranny in first, act like it was never taken out. Put engine in.
If just the tranny is out, rock engine back hold it there with a 2x4 or something, and stab that tranny in.
521/620 are 100x worse for this than 510. Actually every datsun truck I have worked on. Partly because of the oil pan design around the crossmember and steering linkage, and partly because of the crossmembers on the frame under the tranny. Throw in a long tail and its a lot less fun.

Ive done it both ways. If the trans is in the car and I'm dropping in a motor, I have a jack under the trans. Makes it easier to move it up/down or whatever to get it in there just right. It is easier stuffing the engine/trans together. I've installed plenty of trans from under the 510s. Not so bad. Sucks in the trucks, let me re-phrase that. Fucking sucks in the trucks!
