That should be done to the tops of all timing L series timing covers. People do their valves hot, and then put the valve cover back on... hot.

Is that for around the steering column? You could run a u-clamp that bolts to this.

That's a good idea! I might have to modify it a bit. I have mount points on the bottom.. but I was planning on using plastic screws... I might switch it to run an embedded anchor and a machine screw then run a clamp like you mentioned.

Aftermarket VW has something like this out there, but it is expensive, I recall seeing it at the Portland Expo Swap Meet last year, at least I think that is where I seen it.

OK, I thought it was for 4 gauges, but I guess I was wrong, it was for 2 gauges, I believe this was the one I seen, and it mounted below the column.

Maybe that is where I seen it, but I have not been on Ratsun much until recently.

Unfortunately that print failed with about 90 minutes to go.. bummer.

But it's re-scheduled and is printing over night, tonight.

Lol, I so know how that feels. I'm curious how did it fail? Come unstuck or just printer took a crap

On long prints like that you can sometimes salvage them by figuring out where the print failed on the model and slicing the model and printing the remainder. I've had success several times with gluing the parts on by just heating both edges gently and pushing them together. You get a seam but many times unless it is structural it doesn't matter that much. Works best with PLA which is what it looks like you are working with.

Actually, it was the workstation driving the print that died. I think the video drivers crashed a few times and then the print software locked up. We are going to build a spare print server today so this won't happen again. We talked about recovering it, but it was just as easy to let it go again over night.

I just got to work, and it printed successfully. However.. I haven't seen it yet. Gonna go check it out in a bit.

Neat can't wait for pics.

I've had that happen with a sneaky windows update and reboot (win10 beta) at 3am before....I was not happy...things got changed quickly.

If you haven't gotten around to it throw the computer and printer on an UPS. Do you have any plans of making the model public?
