Re: Country slice
Have other maintenance chemicals to. 2 companies said this stuff was safe to use in this type and system.
Yeah , Complete wipe down in/out and cover as well. Cover is roached in a couple of spots..needs repair. Likely will repair it but the vinyl overall... has taken a beating in the sun. Yes....I know exactly what I’d like to build to make a better cover , but alas never enough time (or to be honest the actual driving motivation) so I’ll never likely do it. Bigger fish to fry...type scenario.

Re: Country slice
Not much to report. Our house assessed value went up.
Finally cut the goat enclosure open and started using the riding mower inside that. I’ll just put a gate or whatever in the future to be able to do so. Not sure what we will put in this area yet.
Another subject , Looking at overhead sectional doors , Lowe’s and Home Depot are 6-8 months out in my area. Picked up a used , door , for free. Bottom section has some damage , but don’t care that much....since we’re not gonna keep it forever. Tracks/opener can be re-used easily. Gonna swap the 37yr old door for a somewhat newer door that can simply have its panels swapped...for a final choice door down the line. One I got for free is about $1650-$2000 new today if you’re lucky.
Still cutting up bushes/trees and stuff them in the yard debris. I’ll be doing that for the next few months at least. How much time or money I spend depends on my work load.
Every second counts these days.
Have to spray the weeds in the pool area...thanks to the most generous previous owner.
A lot more bushes , small trees , etc need to be cut out and cleared still. It’s a process , slow and steady

Someone else told me that as well. Apparently I need to see what’s around or available. They’ll need to not be picky about the 406 varieties of weeds though.

Not much to report.
Just slow and steady in the direction I want to be.
Filed the points on the well pressure switch contacts.
They’re pitted/burnt... enough on one particular contact.
I’ll be ordering a spare.
Square-D 40/60psi pressure switch.

Re: Country slice
Evap cooler. Adjusted flow rate and spaced the spray bar according just right. Ended up glueing the cap on at the end of said bar (it finished splitting and leaked changing flow a bit ?). Been using it the last few days , been pleased. It doesn’t have a pre-cooler/conditioner (would love to get my hands on something or make one) but i feel it works as well as the design allows.
It’s comfortable so far using in even 89-degree weather we had today. Master was getting too cool for others last evening so had to turn the thing off. Gonna make a new spray bar and put it in later on. Happy with it for what it is !
Here’s a Generic old pic.

Cut down more and got rid of....some more of that pile of dead bushes. As much as I love my Stihl chainsaw(s) , I used the corded electric homelite saw on this stuff lulz. Pile was not worthy enough...
Slow and steady is the theme unfortunately (for now...)

Re: Country slice
Not much to report. Put in a new sprinkler timer/controller. Old one seemed to have lost its brain during last power outage and would only work zone 1... no matter what zone I turned it to. I’m reserving the new zone 1 slot for my wife’s stuff when that goes into operation. Which reminds me...I have to pickup/order some surge proetectors...
Paid $72 for this 6-zone BBU rain bird. I don’t need WiFi for this particular application (although it was considered).
Picked up some 3” chlor ine tablets from Costco. Almost 40lbs for $169.00. Wow...things have gone up. (1qty) 3” tablet to be set in floater per 10,000 gallons of water...per 1-week....which means I need (3qty) minimum. Of course , tossed those in and walked away... have to re-program the variable speed pool pump to accommodate summer/hotter weather.
I’m only posting on the chlorine in accordance with the cost of everything...availability I’m sure will be another issue...in the near future.

Re: Country slice
Also , been battling the master bath drain. Did everything to it with some..improvement 2-months ago. Wife finally said “it stopped draining” tonight... consistency + wet/dry shop vac = success. I think soap/products...built up around hair/lint that was partially clogged in the drain + high mineral calcium = was whatever I pulled out...

Re: Country slice
I’m sure chlorine tablets will become scarce at some point.
As far as the drain, our master shower clogs from time to time. Y’all probably don’t have this problem there but we have a lot of lime in our water down here and that lime builds up and “calcifies” on the walls of the cast iron drain pipe. A long flathead screwdriver and extended needle nose pliers remedies the situation for me. It’s a wonder my wife isn’t bald.

Re: Country slice
Used this yesterday. 90 to 99F high this week. Ended up talking to a few companies , none would provide *all* of the knowledge or services my system or circumstances require. One was thirsty for $$$ and recommended extreme services not needed. 3 could not tell me which specific parts I required either for an older system. Per usual , did it myself when the time permitted.
I can and will make the water clearer than this pic below as of yesterday.
Chemistry is damn close (no brainer , like many things , just time like anything) Automatic swee p is on its way , should be here Wednesday. I probably have 20+ hours into figuring all of this out and performing what needs/needed to be fixed/maintained.

I'm kinda jealous. It was only 85 here today and I worked outside from 7:30-5:30. Pool would feel great right now.

Re: Country slice
Well , I’ve been told in my area some have paid $45,000 for one (no idea on size) , and another with a built in jacuzzi for $70,000. Both hand dug in backyards though. I think you could do just as good of a job yourself if not better than those guys if it came to it.

Re: Country slice
Got this device , to keep things maintained in the swimming hole.
Sprung for the fine filters , worth it. Has (4qty) cartridges it holds . And comes with 2-sets (fine filtration and standard filtration). Pretty impressive what this thing picks up. It’s all electric. No running off suction or pressure ports.
In case anyone does this type of thing ever...patience...and waiting , testing , waiting , adding chemicals , waiting and testing some more is the key. I’ve had to add ACID to reduce the PH levels , alkalinity , and make the free chlorine more effective.

A Roomba for your pool but with a cord that appears to float so it does not get in the way.
This will put the pool maintenance guys out of business.

Re: Country slice
Well this happened while I was out of town. Wife called me , I called these guys
Out of water + out of town = had to call a company. New pump , wiring , control relay box , contacts , 100’+ of new piping.
I’m sure I could’ve done it myself I know exactly how I would’ve gotten it out. Getting it back in would’ve been a little bit trickier and time consuming for me , that much is for sure. I couldn’t wait around all week , too much going on. It would have taken me a bit of time to fabricate stuff anyways.

Ruh-roh. Does the date code make it 37 years old? If so, good run.

Re: Country slice
Precisely. Impressive. It was still working before being pulled out , water table dropped and starved it finally on draw down. I opted to just have a new pump tossed back in for now.
