Its a z20e, wich means flat top pistons and 6 inch rods.
Got the front cover and pan off before I had to go.
More when I get back.

Yeah. But the z20e is basicly a l20b, the cranks the same, the block is the same, the rods are longer (6inch) and the pistons areflat tops. The displacment will be the same. The stroke will be the same. so im basicly building an l20b, you could call it an lz. Ill probably just call it a long rod 20b myself.

Painted my sister in laws motor on it.....
Image

Reached a problematic point her. All my books claimed that a z20e piston sits .07 below deck and has 3.44 cc valve releifes... well thats not correct. It sits .007 below deck and has 1cc of valve relief.... wich pushed compression up tp 10.7... that wont work at all. I may be screwed here. How could 3 catologs be off on the cc numbers and all show the same thing... fuck.
I dont think I can remove the cc needed to get back to 10:1 ish. Fuck.

With which head are you getting 10.7?

I did the math a while age on the z20 from the A10 with a u67 and it was like 9.9ish.

9.9 is way too high on an open chamber. Im at 9.35 with a U67 and ping with anything except Chevron or 76 Premium (Yes shell pings in my car). A cam would help. I want to say Jessi's motor is at 10.8, and well you know about that... Bigger cam!

Weird, I'm at 9.7 and it'll run on anything and never pings.

...Oh yeah, maybe it's the knock sensor :fu: . EFI is flippin sweet. It runs fine no matter what -- just runs better on higher octane.

Yeah. Exept its not a a10 z20. Its a 200sx z20e, I have longer rods and flat top pistons.
Wich on paper with a closed chamber should be 10.1:1 but the deck height and cc of the valve releifs is incorrect in most litariture.
If I ran a open chamber head I would have 10.5:1 compression.... way to much for an open chamber.
Not that 10.9:1 isnt too much for my w53.....
I could do a couple things. Thicker head gasket, I have a felpro so the crush height is 1.2, a nismo gasket is 1.5. Or I could have a 2.0 gasket made. Maybe run a 87mm bore gasket. Could get a couple points...
What im going to do is is clean up the combustion chamber to match my head gasket, and brow the block. Deshroud the valves and the cc them again. Hoping for 2cc or more. 2cc would put me at 10.44:1, in the range of doable, with a close chamber.
And 10.01:1 with an open chamber, probably not doable.

My buddy nick came and chexked out my head. He is an experianced machinist, cool dude, people come along way to get there chevy heads built by him, and thevtec kids with there hybrid motors too.
He has built all my brothers race heads and he is sure he can get me squared away.
I marked where I was going to grind out, and he agreed I had it laid out but insisted I let him have the grinder lol
Should have it at the machinist friday for the lightest suface possible. Its at -.007 cee's can take .003 off so that would be -.010
But im using a felpro hg, so its .3mm shorter than stock wich is .0118,
So thats -.0218 total right? Cause I need shims at .015. I think.
Im just not sure wich of these numbers are metric and wich are standard lololol
