I just referred Ratsun to food, it used to be a ma and pa place to eat, I referred to it as a burger joint in that post, he didn't like that and said yet I keep coming back there, so after a couple days of thinking about it, I decided that I wasn't interested in a McRatsun diet anymore and quit going there.
What's funny is that I had just bumped/added to one of my threads on there for the first time in over a year, now it can just fade off in to history as far as I am concerned.
What got all this going is the fact that I mentioned that someone manipulated the most online number, before it had been 508 members/users combined back in July of 2012, March 10th 2015 was just any other day there(I was on that day), there wasn't 685 members/users on at one time that day, someone manipulated that number and I pointed it out, you see that is one of the things I always watch, I always have watched it since I became a member back in 2010, the last couple years that number has been declining, it definitely has not been going up.

It's hard for me to just stop going there as I have had a few deals going on privately, I give them my email when I respond.
I also have private messages coming in, I generally respond to all of them, I was always helping folks out, but I learned something a while ago, not all members are on the up and up, so I quit volunteering to get parts at the local yards now, as I got stuck with a rocker assembly I bought that I will never have a use for.
It's amazing how much I got done around here when I quit going there.
The only thing that will not move around here at this time is that L320, the damned thing will not start, it is a positive ground vehicle, so I cannot put electronic ignition in it, that damned distributor has weak spark when testing it on the bench, and it has no spark when I install it on the engine, I hate 320/E1 positive ground distributors, I have had more issues with the 2 I have than all the other distributors in all the cars I have owned in my entire life, and I have owned a lot of vehicles.

That thing is just sitting back there with the hood open(under cover), I lost interest in it, I had the dist out at least 3 or 4 times, it got old dealing with it, I moved on to the MGTD and the midget engines which do start and run.
I actually was thinking about selling it, but the damned thing won't start, if it will not start the next time I try, I will just convert it over to an A series engine/5 speed, and then kingcab it, I have everything I need to kingcab it, but I would rather get it running with the original engine and sell it now.

Today I changed out the rear dually axle, about a year ago I fixed this axle and put it back together, maybe 2 years??, anyway I made my own inspection cover gasket, well it leaked and all the fluid drained out slowly enough that I didn't notice till it was to late, I was on the road about 10 miles from home when it really started howling, so I stopped at a auto parts store and bought some gear oil and filled it up, I was hoping it would be alright, but it still whined, just not as loud, I made another gasket and filled it again, but I guess it was too late for it, it just kept getting louder and louder, so I finally decided to change it back out for the other one I pulled thinking it was bad because of a clang, well that turned out to be a driveline U-joint, but I got to try out my rebuild of that rearend I fixed with that 720 4X4 carrier, to bad my gasket failed, it was working great till that point.
I think I need to change to a dual reservoir master brake cylinder, all these years I have been using the stock master brake cylinder with a non functioning residual valve, it had to be gutted because otherwise the front disc brakes I have would have gotten hot and seized or caught fire, well the back brakes don't really work, they never have since I converted over to the front disc brakes, it would be nice to stop better, I converted my trailer to electric brakes, and that was a great improvement, but it still doesn't stop great.

Trailer brakes would pretty much be mandatory in my opinion. Have you dug in to the howler yet? Think you might be okay with new bearings?

Not yet, I just changed it over this morning before it got hot outside, I actually have another one in the back with 4.54 gearing, the one in it now has 4.37 gears, and the one I pulled out had 4.37 gears, I do realize that I could pull more weight with the 4.54 gears, and it would slow me down because I could not go as fast on the hiway(I drive fast), but I hated the RPMs when I had 488 gears, so I am not ready to go there yet.
I found out that I could get 4.11 gearing for that rearend, but that would make it hard to start moving, especially if I were having to start going up hill, I might pull the cover off tomorrow morning.

I pulled the axle apart today to figure out the issue, the ring gear looked fine, and the bearings seemed fine also, so I pulled the carrier out and looked the the pinion gear, not so good looking, nothing was worn out or close to breaking, but I think I found out why it was howling, some of the edges of that gear are very rough.

Here is an angle from the top.

I have never tried to set up a rearend like this before, never had to pull the pinion gear ever, but I am going to look into doing one just to do it.

I dont like rear ends. I have done 2 (04 Chevy stepside, and 08 Titan), both were getting LSDs. The Chevy one made me want to shoot myself, in and out, in and out, in and out. Gotta get that alignment of the pinion and ring gear correct. The Titan one was much nicer, had this nice rings that you turned to shift the carrier back and forth.

Well, the transmission self destructed this morning about 5 blocks from the house, never had one come apart like this one did, and I have not even looked at it yet, I just know it's destroyed, even though I was able to get it home in 4th gear, it has no reverse now, and a couple times in second gear I thought it almost exploded from the feel of it.
I suspect that the lower cluster gear bearing exploded, from the 2 second warning I had, it screeched and then something bound up, I suspect that was when the cluster gear shaft broke, keep in mind that I don't know this as the transmission is still in the truck, but it for sure busted the front cover as there is a trail of gear oil in the street that came out of the clutch area vent hole at the bottom, more to come................... :(
