Holy thread jack guys!
Any idea on how you want to coat the frame?

I'll probably just paint it when the time comes. Most of it isn't really visible like on a '32-'34. With the rust scale put in check and the fact that it won't be seeing year-round use, this frame should probably last as long as I need it to. It would have been nice to just write a check for new rails but that would have added close to $3K to the build cost.
Keep in mind, these rails were originally under a sedan which mounts the body directly to the top of the frame. A pickup actually uses wood to space the cab from the frame. So after 80 years, the sedan/coupe frames get rust pitting on the top of the rails. Pickup frames typically stay dryer but are often cracked, bent and otherwise fatigued from heavy use. When I'm done I'll have a unit with waaay more strength than anything Henry made in 1935.
Glad you guys are still watching. I apologize for the lack of momentum. Without going in to details, the last couple months of my personal life have been pretty distracting. Hoping things get back to normal-ish soon. I still plan to focus most of my spare money and time on this project. There just hasn't been much of either lately.

You shouldn't have to apologize for 'lack of progress'. If you do... then I have years of doing just that , and I don't plan on doing much of apologizing lol. Lookin good keep it up DRIVEN. One of my favorite projects that I get to experience as it goes right here. Family's first rest comes later. I tried to email you on NWfirearms , but your box was full. Thanks for the bump/good words on there my good mang
!! Anyways back on topic
.

I'm glad you at least tried. That prompted the notification that you tried but my box was full. I guess the new format has less space since I was 111% full
and I didn't realize it was maxed. That probably explains the high frequency of "your inbox is full" messages I see all over their classifieds.

Snail pace progress report. Finished straightening the rails. Tacked in the boxing plates. Welded the X-rails together. Set it up on the hoist and leveled(ish) everything.
As usual, I had big plans for the day but got distracted by other tasks. Ended up wasting half the day on cleaning and reorganizing the storage shelves upstairs. Ended up throwing a ton of shit away. I've also decided it's just not very bright in the work bay too. When the shop was built 15 years ago we wired it for 2 additional 8' high output lights above the hoist but just never got around to installing them. Maybe 18' ceilings have something to do with it. I've had the fixtures, bulbs, hang chains and electrical pigtails on a shelf upstairs all this time. It just needs to be done. I'm embarrassed.

Sold off my frame scrap leftovers. Buyer said he and his son will be using parts and pieces for a Model A ratrod project. No part of the buffalo is wasted.
