Jacob, I know what you mean
I spent about 440 ish out the door for my ruger 9mill.
then add cleaning kit and accessories. Not cheap. You're right, all toys are retarded priced
Thanks Keith! I bought it. First two nights, got home and its too late to ride (pitch black out)
Now I am getting off while its still time to catch an hour ride on the beach down the street but its pissing rain outside. Nothing like having a toy in front of you that you cant play with.
Thought about getting another datsun, but meh. IDK right now. Might have a move coming up soon

Thank goodness for tax returns. Otherwise this bike would not be in my possession lol.
I should be pretty much set. Have riding gear, chest protector. Need to finish installing brush guards... Only other things I really need is Elbow/knee guards, and at some point a spark arrestor. Can't spend any more money on the bike right now. Going to try and hit up an afternoon ride on some logging roads thursday just to get a feel for the bike, then this weekend a day ride is in the plans.... Start around 9 and end around 5-6! F-YEA.

Old grips worn the hell out. new grips not!
Slice down the old grip, pull it off. use a razor to remove old glue with razor, then some 1500 grit sand paper.... I put a few beads of new grip glue down the handlebar, then inside the new grip and work it around... line it up and slide it on quickly... align it perfect... and in 20 minutes its stuck there for a few years lol.

Went out riding friday. Effing clutch cable broke out on the trails. What a bitch that is. Lesson learned, carry a spare. (they are ten bucks, totally worth having a spare on me) I carry a camel type back pack. Has a 2 liter water bag with long hose I can drink on the go, then lots of storage. I carry some basic tools, flat head/phillips, plug wrench, crescent wrench, spare plug, a couple brake parts, little shit like that... Am going to throw one of these in there too lol. Lucky for me I found a guy over in astoria who is a kawasaki fanatic. He has tons of stuff, and sold me a cable on my way home.
When the cable broke, I had to push the bike a few hundred yards off the trail out into the logging road, then rode down hill mostly to the main road... where I waited for my buddy to come and get me. Was gonna be a 4-5 hour ride, turned into 2 Ah well, was super fun while it lasted!
New cable, and of course the kids always love getting their pics on the bike.. so they can show their friends...
Here are a few photos from out in rainier. It was a buddy of mine since 2000 and his kiddo. we haven't been out in that area in years, so it was more of just a cruise and an intermediate trail ride, as we didn't want to take the kiddo on serious shit and risk flipping/turning the quad over. Was a perfect ride IMO, weather was dope, riding spots were great...
bike against the tree when i took a leak, my buddy and his kid, then the bike on its side while I waited for my ride

You are going to thoroughly trail test it first, right?

Lol. Of course! I just ripped it around my yard. can do wheelies in first and second. Pretty neat for an old 200. I just washed it a little with some de-greaser.
It's going up for sale/trade. Need to round up some dolla bills. Trying to buy an 80 4x4 off a lady I know.

this brings back memories from my first 3 bikes all of them Kawasaki late 70s KV75, mid 80s KD80 and a late 80s KX80. The KD80 and KX80 were bought new off the showroom floor.

just so you know, that wasn't the hill climb i got up The ones in the videos... That is Back 2 back at browns camp. That was my buddy trying to get up the hill. he is a far better rider than I, and if he can't make it I wasn't even going to attempt it.
I struggled up a different rocky hill. It's not very steep, but the rocks are the size of miniature soccer balls. They fucking blow. No traction.... You get going up the hill and since they are so big the tire just kicks them everywhere and you bounce all over the place. I spent all my enegery getting up that hill. I fell 4 or 5 times... Picking the bike up, holding it on the hill and kicknig it over was a feat. Plus keeping it from sliding back down while trying to do so. I need to learn better clutch control. that would have got me up the first time with ease.
Here is a video of the hill I was going up.... I will say, I have pushed myself many times on this bike and have won many battles. This one kicked my fucking ass. I talked with the guy in the video above that made those hill climb attempts about the rocky hills where I was at yesterday. He said that he avoids them just for that reason, they are a bitch to get up. so I'm not the only one who has problems getting up
