Yep lol you were right, time always seems to matter.
Well anyways I got down and dirty and started pulling everything in the engine bay in perpetration for my swap tomorrow night. I pulled off the fenders and bumper, removed everything on the inner fenders, detached the harness from the body, and unhooked and pulled all the break and clutch hard lines. In the morning when the sun comes up I'll be back out there stripping everything. Then tomorrow night the dat side and draynor are coming over to help me life the truck cabs to swap them. And I'll be workin on it all weekend so if anyone in the area is bored you're welcome to come hang out
Oh yeeaaaa
Wow it was pretty bad under those body panels
Nasty

Hey man
I just saw your wanted ad but didn't want to clug that up. I see you looking for flag mirrors. have you ever (or was this the plan) thought about modding your doors? Basically welding in a little triangle piece of metal on the door and the window frame at the front. Then you can attach a mirror to that. James johnson did this on a 510 and it looked amazing. Looked like it came stock, even. I can draw something out if you need to know what i mean.

I'll have to look up that upgrade
Well I'm currently inside waiting for my dad to come help me pull my truck back up the hill with the tractor....
I was working on pullin everything for the cab swap... Literally had everything pulled and was just pulling the windshield when the weight of the truck on the hill over came the wheel chocks and it took off down hill. There was no way to stop it because all the break lines were pulled and the ebreak cable unhooked for the swap... It was in gear but apparently not enough to stop it. Doesn't look like anything was damaged... Well except for the windshield which was partly out and spider webbed from the impact at the bottom. Apparently I'm not gonna have a good day. I'll post more stuff later after the truck is recovered and the sun goes down
Both outside for the swap
Well that sucks....

That one got busted during removal... It was stuck and ended up cracking. I'll yank one from pick and pull if it comes down to it

Got the truck hauled back up the hill and in position. Then with the help of draynor and the dat side pulled the old cab off and put the new cab in place. There's some fitting that still needs done because of slight differences between a 79 and a 74 but I should have most of it buttoned up and swaped into the new cab by the end of tomorrow. Then I need to track down a windshield, and bleed the clutch and breaks. Realistically I could be driving it again by the time I have to work again on Tuesday.
Towing it back up with draynor and my dad
Back at the top with the tie rods unhooked and wheels pointed sideways haha
Bare frame
Old cab slammed!
New cab on the frame

also, you should have painted the hood. And then plasti dip it black. That way you could go back and forth easily.

Thanks! I love my new cab lol I'm probably gonna be sitting in it pretending to drive like a little kid tomorrow lol
And I still don't have a good enough hood to paint yet. My old one is rusty and not worth it. Tomorrow I'm gonna put it together as much as possible. Hopefully be able to mock it up with fender mirrors to see how I like it before I make a decision on my mirror preferences. I'm torn between fender mirrors, peeps mirrors, and BMW 2002 flag mirrors

Got a huge amount of stuff done today. I hooked everything back up in the engine bay, put the radiator in, had to create locations for 79 stuff the 74 never had, reinstalled the steering box and column, constructed a working climate controle unit out of the two I had complete with a refreshed heater core, put all the body panels back on, rewired parts of the harnes, installed a new sterio complete with proper wireing, and soo much more. All I have left to be able to drive it is to go get a new windshield and install it, bleed the clutch and breaks, and install the dash and interior. Oh and I finally found the reason my dash lights have been out for the last few months, there is an inline fuse in the barnes that is not in the fuse box. That little bugger has had me stumped hAha. I love my truck more than ever haha I've literally been working on it non stop from 9am till 830 the last cour of days.
A cool pic of me stripping my old cab with my new one in the background
Another Kodac moment
It has eyes!
All assembled
Coolant catch bottle
Working on wires
Darn fuse finally fixed
My new sterio
Even found a cd in my headliner haha not mine

Thanks and haha one color is the goal for sure. I have all the good panels off the truck currently so I can do body and paint on them. The fenders are gonna stay tho. I have them on there to try out the fender mirrors to see if I like them. And I have definitely decided they're gonna stay

Haha they'll be painted soon enough. I'm gonna do doors, then fenders, then the bed. And finally the hood and cowel. But I guess I could do fenders then doors
