That submit problem is so that you can edit your response if needed after seeing the new post, everyone sees that.

Also, I mostly use the "Quick Reply" box, and when I hit backspace after submitting, it takes me back to the thread.

But it double posts.
When not thinking or paying attention, I click it.

Oh well. Moving on.

Maybe he means that he has to submit his reply twice before it actually posts, it does it 2 times out of 3 to me, I have no idea why, but it does post everytime the second try though.

Kinda to both of those.

I just have to pay more attention.

Yes you have to hit submit twice, if someone posted while you were typing. It only posts once. Its to edit the post, or cancel the post.

So I just c/p'd a link from here on here...and it only showed the end of the URL.

Example...

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=34

EDIT:
Nevermind...link still works.
Just doesn't show that it's a link.

There... Engine/drivetain for random engine builds! Go for it man. More build threads on the site, the better...

PS, its towards the bottom.

My suggestion...
An intro thread.

Until "new member" is approved/verified-they can only post in that thread.
All other threads shall be locked before posting.

On Shonuff's forum-I had to wait a day or so before being allowed to post.
He came back later and told me it was set that way to fight spam.

Eh sure that "combats" spam, but it still allows it in. And still requires moderator action. I would rather build a bigger wall.

Just about anything will require a moderator action when spam appears, but like mentioned, that will limit it to that thread.
This is going to be an issue for a long time I expect, we don't want to make it hard to join, and I along with everyone else had to use a email link to post on here, so if the spammers are willing to go threw all that, what can be done about it other than some kind of moderator type of permission, which will make it hard to join, and it will also require some kind of action from one of you guys running things.
I don't know if this will work, but what if any one of us members were able to help out here, what I mean is, what if everyone was allowed/required to make one intro post in one intro thread that the email link goes to, and all of us could see this thread, now for this person to make any other post on this forum, one of us members would have to acknowledge that persons post by quoting it and saying "welcome".

What do you think?
That would mean that us members would have to make a decision of some type, on if we thought this was a spammer or not, but that is all I can think of ATM.
The reason I thought this might work is that it would not require a mod to be online all the time, and if no one acknowledges the post, a second post cannot be made.

Eh, nah, I hate registering on forums and having to wait for a mod.

I added a question to the registration, which requires reading to figure out (its really easy actually). And I have the field auto filled with the wrong answer, so the idea is the bot will not bother with that part and fail registration.

A Topic or Thread for -- shipping weights/dimensions/materials/with pics... might prove useful.

(IE : 280zx trans using UPS Ground 100lbs packaged shipped at these dimension x by x by x on this day with these fees).
I'm really not sure how it fits in the scheme of the main-site area though..

Parts could be weighed individually before shipment or installation on datto and posted as well or instead to give members an idea.

Also I'm note sure if sub-category's would make it more or less of a pain (examples below)
-Engine
-Drivetrain
-Interior
-Exterior
-Wheels + Tires
-etc

^^^ all of this would take some time to build for sure as we all know.
Also could be used for people being mindful of weight increase/reduction (duh right ?)

Keep up the good stuff Tim , Jacob , Adam , Lou and Mike

Yeah shipping tends to kill everything..
A packaged up L6 (N47) head (no valve cover) was like 65lbs last time I checked and was about $65 (PDX to Las Vegas) in the winter months .. when gas was down as well.

I love the extra fee UPS incurs for odd sized packages ...
if it's not rectangular or square ... (they say non-stackable)
(close) they will hit you with a $12.50 fee ... Also is $12.50 fee if over-sized or "bulky" as you know.
I'm fine with that when shipping 100lbs though ... understandable it needs to be stackable , but just kinda a buzz killer sometimes lol.
:troll:
It's all business though.

Shipping sucks.. but if you actually have a UPS account rates are wayyyyyy better. not sure what it actually takes to get an account.. but its a significant discount.
