IIRC the openings were 38mm. So, no.

Copied here to show what I did, and make it searchable for Google (remember general discussion does not show up on google results).
Anyways, I have done finished that piece now. Just need to take it to work for welding.
I had like 2, maybe 3 ways to do this piece, but I thought this was the most fluid looking and now just a bunch of 90s. Its also the shortest path for the air, so that is also good.
Laecaon wrote:I've got a really cool idea. I was putting together my intercooler pipes. Since I was having my welder at work weld for me, I needed a way to make sure the parts stayed indexed to each other perfectly. After hunting around on the internet and not finding what I want, I pulled some inspiration from some really expensive clamps.
The idea, use some cheapo hose clamps on each piece. Then weld a steel piece to both hose clamps.

Re: Jacob's goon build
Probably cheap, I can ask my welder what he wants ( not his welding supplies). Not sure if you have pipe already, I think I have a bit extra.

Stuff!
New outer tie rods, mid 90s Altima. They are the longer ones. Should give me about 3/4" to 1" of thread engagement.
Intake welded
In car:
Room in front of engine (ts a lot, or plenty for a fan)
And finally, Planned MAF to turbo tube. I would really like it longer, but I cant find an elegant solution. I figure 2 90s ought to help, and I do see a fair amount of CAs with the maf super close to the turbo...

Re: Jacob's goon build
I dont even remember what I did during July... But I do promise things did happen.
Ill have to backtrack on the steering (not 100% done)
Anyways, I have updated my list of things I need to get done in the categories I am currently focusing on.
Here are two of the above mentioned intake ports. Yes its blurry. Hopefully they will be welded tomorrow and I can take a non blurry pic.
Ill get a pic later... but I did get my BOV installed.
For everything that I got done, I didnt take any pics... which is weird because I kept wanting to share on here...

Re: Jacob's goon build
Are you, me, and Matt gonna have a waggo-bro section at Canby next year?

Re: Jacob's goon build
That would be cool. At this point, I think I will be on the road by Canby. My friends have a bet going on if I have it back on the road by some date in November... I would say I could do that... if I didnt just decide to take on the BMW engine overhaul, which will mostly consume funds, not time.
Anyways, some solid progress for the night!
IACV port welded on.
And here is it in place
BOV Re-circulation port welded on.
And in place. Also you can see the BOV on the hot side pipe.
I cut out and started bending a sheet of ABS. I used another piece of metal (not seen) to block/direct the flame/heat to localize it at the bend. Bends by hand really nicely.
That resulted in my new Air box! I think it fits super well. It will be getting a lid (clear?)

Re: Jacob's goon build
I dont think I ever showed my final Sway bar brackets.
Tacked a sleeve on the steering column to hold the bearing in place (didnt want to weld the bearing itself due to heat and grease and plastic...)
Shaft collar...
Slit the bottom of my steering column...
And column is all one piece. That collar grabbed on tight, and its right over the bearing.

Re: Jacob's goon build
They joys of working in a machine shop. Make custom parts, access to coatings.
These are for my tie rods. 2024 aluminum. Free Type 2 anodizing.
Bleh, I havent done too much, been kinda busy this week at work. I did order a new tool, and I think I have finally figured out how I am doing the Turbo coolant lines.

Little things
BOV recirculation hose done.
The new Outer Tie Rods (inspiration from what all the drift kids use).
And I have done one of these in awhile, but here is the current engine bay shot:

I see them now. Weird. I could see all the others on the page. Just not that post.

I’m jealous! That top view is awesome, it’s looking really clean.
I need to make some radiator pipes like yours. I think for now I’ll just read up on those tie rod ends.
