Something small. Turbo coolant feed line is done. I crimped it a little.... I might try and fix that. Still flows easily.






Turbo return line is currently in process....

I did fix the kink a little.

But then I finished up the Turbo Coolant return line.





Here is the view on the passenger side. The hose going up to the manifold closest to the firewall is from the Turbo, the second hose comes down from the manifold and to the coolant return pipe. There is no coolant in the manifold, but Nissan was smart enough to put a coolant bleeder port at what is the highest point on the engine, So I will use it.




Here is the view from the drives side. You can see the fitting on the side of the Turbo (down on the picture near the brake master). Line loops under the turbo and finally up and goes behind the cylinder head.




And the view from underneath. Just enough clearance everywhere. I really like the look of the stainless lines.




Oh and for some vibration resistance I did fasten the line to the back of the head using 2 rubber coated P clamps.

Quick question. Are my images too large? I can see them appear pretty quickly on my phone and computer, but others maybe not...

Another thing checked off the list. All intake tubes have been flanged.


Started with this Milwaukee electrical terminal crimper (it had the longest handles of anything I could find locally).



Took various tools to it which resulted in this:

Drew a line around where I wanted the flange and started crimping:




And final result. It will all be hidden under the pipe adapters so I really dont care about the finish. I may alter these in the future if I need to use them anymore.

They may be a bit large but load okay on my phone. Wayno's computer is probably in a coma though.

Thanks, Ive tried a few things to help reduce file size across the board. But Ill drop the resolution a bit...


Today I felt a bit meh about it. So I fixed something that should not have needed fixing. The BOV inlet flange was made incorrectly, and when you would use the set screws it would lift the BOV and not have it mate super nicely. Its also missing an O-ring (that is what I get for buying a "New, only removed from box once" item). So I took a file to it. All better. O-ring is in the mail.




I also made the mess inside my car much worse, I pulled the heater box as I try and figure out how to make a little more room for my heater hose.

I did some boring stuff.

I also went to the junkyard looking for a usable fuel sending unit. But meh hate them all. BMW scored though.

Bought 20 small hose clamps for anything under 3/4", I really like these stainless embossed clamps. I bought these ones from McMaster, but after shipping I should have bought the HPS ones I have been using because I like them more.

Anyways, here is a picture of 10 of the suckers installed. I am gonna go back and trim the tails on these clamps. Still have all the heater hose attachments to install.





Also, I finally made the driver side TC pocket bolt on... I did make a nicer rivetnut install tool out of a longer bolt and some nuts.

Got a radiator cap. FYI Griffin radiators just use the generic Radiator cap that everything old takes. I think I just looked up a part number for an 85 Camaro. This one is 16psi.




And I reversed some of my work.

Progress is progress. Every little step is one closer to driving it again.

What did the pan do to deserve that?

It was born back in the days of keeping the stock crossmember and steering system. No way it would have fit with the steering rack. And the new crossmember gives a lot more room (because I planned it that way)


I did do some Oil pan mockup today. But not much, my head wasnt very clear.


And because posts are almost worthless without pictures...

Where did you get those crimpers? Home Depot? I like their is as a pipeing crimper. Good thinking. How did they hold up?

Crimpers are Milwaukee brand. So yes Home Depot. I cut off the wire cutters portion, and then reshaped the crimping part until I got a crimp that I liked. I was only crimping aluminum, but they held up fine. I did manage to get a blister on my middle finger.

I would have preferred to have bead rolled these but I don't have one of those tools, and engineering that would take too long. Also for steel/stainless flanging, I just use a welder.

So I was looking at my wastegate actuator. Looking at how to make it work again. It wasnt going to. It was welded to a bracket and with the new clocking of the turbo it wasnt going to fit. So I bought a new one and made a bracket.

Havent done much... Wanted to do more this weekend...

Anyways, Got the Air Box mounted. Its rigid. Installed some M6 rivet nuts. Made some ABS brackets, and used some ABS Pipe Glue to glue/weld the brackets to the box.






Also, Im trying out this chassis paint. Seems to be pretty favorable, and its relatively cheap. Can be sprayed, but I applied it with a foam brush. They do make warning that it will not come off of anything, and it even will "weld" steel together.

Where did you get that chassis saver paint?

Anything new?

I made like no progress last weekend (I was busy painting a house). And I was helping another friend with some of his car stuff.

I did make a lid for the air filter box, out of Lexan (Ive had acrylic shatter before). Need to make the brackets and mount it. I have all the hardware.



I got one part in the mail today (its sitting in the mailbox currently). The other comes in tomorrow. Probably pictures tomorrow if Im feeling well (stupid teeth).
