Im kinda against moving the rack at this point. I cant roll it due to the rack profile, and the mount would be a bear to unweld, I mostly full welded it. I will see if I do need to modify anything...


And since I had the exhaust off, I took the turbo and elbow to work. Fixed the flange, 1 hole was off...

How about threading the block and then just running a bolt from the back of the transmission into it?

Definitely a possibility. Something I haven't thought of. It would be a pretty large bolt, considering the block is clearanced for a m10 bolt, and an alignment sleeve.

Im trying to not work on anything mechanical on the car right now.

Started going through the CA wire harness. Thinking I may make a Wiring Specialties Connector order. Half the connectors on this harness are broken.

Goal is to figure out how many wires I am actually passing through the firewall so I can order a round bulk head connector for the firewall.

I will take all of the Electrical tape off... eventually. But here is a nice mess of what I managed to remove from the harness.

Managed to strip the rest of what I can remove without soldering...

I dont have AC, so that was a lot of wire I got to remove. There were a few random test terminals... so I deleted those as well.

My goal is to get the wire count going through the firewall to the engine under 47. Right now I am at 43 and I need to add some. But I already figured out how to take 3 out of the equation.

The other thing is, this harness is made for a S13, which has a long engine bay, unlike the 510. The other thing is the S13 has all of its power distribution at the front of the engine bay, but I have relocated all of mine to under the passenger dash. So I have come to the decision that the harness needs to massaged a bit to fit my car. Such a sticky situation.

And I got some new wire crimpers, I hope they work well.

Oddly, I actually enjoy that type of work. I'll be relocating my ECM as well when I put mine back together so I may do a bulkhead connector as previously I only had half a dozen wires going through the firewall.
When I originally modified my harness I probably removed close to half the weight -- maybe even more. ABS, SRS, cruise, auto trans, and even some lighting was all in the original loom.


How is the house sale going?

Haven't actually done any work on this... But got some cool stuff.

Round connector is in, 47 pin, 4x 14/16/18 gauge wire spots, 43x 20/22 gauge wire spots.

left crimper does 14/16/18 gauge solid terminals, right one does 20/22 gauge solid terminals.

Bottom of the picture shows the terminals, These terminals make really good contact with each other. The crimpers put 8 dents in to attach to the wire.

Good guess. I've been looking bit over for a while. I have all the arms and knuckles too. Just need a diff/axles/sway bar to figure it out. But it appears it won't be too hard to figure it out. I think the shocks/springs might be hardest to figure out.

I'm definitely intrigued.

We have plans for a kit. Trying to make it as simple as possible.

Awww crap. Traded the 510 for a Jeep Liberty? This thread just got a serious plot twist.

And its home!!!

The X5 makes for a pretty good tow rig. While I noticed the weight on acceleration, braking was cake. And if I really needed to, I could bury my foot and make it go. Other than that, its real stable. Used a HF come-along to pull it onto the trailer, as well as some Ratchet Straps.



And here it is at home! I need to move it over towards my tool box a bit.


I got a new phone, it has a wide angle lens. Havent used it til now. Definitely useful in this garage.
