Figured I might as well start this here since I am sporting a NWD sticker on the truck now.
Found this little gem in the big town of Mill City for a total of $250. The engine had just been completely rebuilt and needed to have the intake and exhaust bolted on. It had a brand new 32/36, tires and battery. After about two hours we had her running. Battery was shot after sitting for 5 years or so. Alternator died after about a month of driving.
Next came a cleaning of the light sockets so all the lights would work.
After that came a nice clean set of leather seats from a Honda Del Sol. Not too difficult to mount up. I may end up swapping the Del Sol floors into the truck to bring the seats down and take care of the rusty passenger side floor. My plans also involve swapping in a '79 280ZX dash. It will sit a lot flatter and lower the 620 dash, so the lower seats should be perfect.
After driving for a while It came time to treat the wheels to a fresh coat of bronze paint and ditch the beauty rings.
Altitude adjustment time. Flipped the second leaf upside down to bring the back down about 2.5-3" and cranked on the torsion bars to bring the front down. This has given me time to understand that this will bring the rear down a lot without the use of blocks but it rides like shit. 720 4x4 rear leafs will be swapped in till I can get the 4 link setup in.
When I bought the truck it came with a nice CD player but no speakers. I told a buddy of mine I was going to use my cell phone/Pandora for tunes, he gave me a bitchin Kicker amp. i just wired that to the deck this last weekend. Picked up some Kenwood 6x9 speaker out of a Jag at the pick a part for $2. Good enough for this guy.
This weekend I picked up another '79 KC cab to use as my mock up for the VG swap that I am going to do on this truck. If anyone has a spare frame they want to give away, let me know.
Just for the record, I am a business owner and sole provider in my home. DON'T EXPECT THIS MOVE FAST. There is a reason I wanted a mock up truck. So I could work and plan as money becomes available. In other words........be patient.
