Nearing the end of a 6 year restoration on my Corolla wagon. Figure what the heck and post some pics here as it seems most can appreciate the work that goes into fixing these things up, be it Datsuns or otherwise. (especially being built not bought) Readers digest version,

Looks like a Mitsu 3.0 with a flipped and modified intake. Should move that little wagon around without working too hard.

Yes, Mitsu 3.0 6G72 out of a Montero. The Intake is actually off a Dodge Stratus (same engine basically) and I did have to mod it to fit the TB. Motor is rated at like 170 or so HP so yeah, should move pretty good in a lightweight wagon. Izzo, it's a 1972 Toyota Corolla Wagon. TE28 is the chassis code the Toyota boys use to identify the cars as there were different body styles under the Corolla name. For instance, for the wagons, there was the TE28 and the KE26, same car, different motors and some other slight changes. Then there are KE20 and TE21(2 and 4 door sedans) and the KE25 and TE27 (coupes). 6 different cars under the "Corolla" nameplate. Another generic term you see is E20's to cover the series. T's were 2TC powered (1600) while the K's were 3KC powered (1200).

Ahh, learn something new every day. I figured out the car, but not the motor But now I know why they call it what they do. Thanks!

Getting a little burned out on the D scene myself. Still love them just as much, and will continue to turn wrenches on them.... but hoping to get into a few other things at some point... Something from the 50s to 70s with 8 cylinders comes to mind

noticed a few things different like the rear marker lights and the rear vent by the cargo window. Did you remove the rear vent and use a another year of marker lights ? just curious.

I don't know what your talking about.



Markers are from a 70's Dodge Colt and I did away with the rear vent. Just though it gives it a sleeker look.
