Not sure what this POS 510 is worth .. . it's been hacked more ways than not .. .. but it runs/drives everyday, with every nut/bolt/part off the 'famous' Rusty Ruby
--Questionable hacks:
-Left rear quarter panel was riveted on, with the whole spare tire well/tailight panel still attached, over 15 years ago, by the PO ... needs new panels welded on
-Firewall was cut 9 years ago ... questionably repaired (not by me)
-Fender mounting holes (on top of upper frame rails) were cut off to the spot welds 8 years ago ... not fixed yet
-Super hacked mini-tubs, allow dust/exhaust into car ... needs mini tubs patches
-Had bubble flares, I cut them off
-Welded on 4dr rear fender lips, with lots of Bondo, 3 years ago ... far from professional looking or executed
-Welded in a new drivers floor pan, didn't finish the under side of front rocker panel (can't put a jack stand there anymore) ... again not a pro job
-Finally got the fender lips looking decent, then rolled them too much to fit new wheels ... cracked the bondo and pulled/cracked above driver's rear lip
-Welded in new left front T/C rod bushing 'cups', they were thicker than stock, now I can't add enough caster on LF ... needs adjustable T/C rods
--The Good:
-Freshly rebuilt, high comp., L16 out of Rusty Ruby ... less than 5k miles, runs great, lots of power
-properly jetted DGV webber (gets great gas MPG)
-280zx 5 speed .. Ermish crossmember ... balanced driveshaft
-Comes with a spare stock R160 diff., and good half shafts ... current diff is loud at speed
-H4 hella high/low beams ... with brand new 80-90w bulbs .. (super bright)
-Perfect hood and drivers door ... small rust spot on the almost perfect passenger door .. roof is perfect too
-Good stock 510 brakes .. mostly new everything
-new'ish IR alternator, Odessey PC680 Battery, and gear reduction starter motor
-Good Matchbox dizzy
-new 'cast impeller' style water pump, and 3 core radiator .. never overheats (but I don't drive in super hot weather)
-1" RCA bump steer spacers, and a well made steering box brace w/ backing plate
- Got a new windshield, and new front/back windsheild weatherstripping .. 8 years ago ... all still look good
- Passenger door has all new weatherstipping, have squeeges for both doors, and window channel felt for driver's door
- New trunk seal, and tons of misc. 510 parts in the trunk
I consider this shell 'un-restorable', but it's a decent driver/beater.. I was thinking about asking $3,500 with cheap suspension, no bumpers/fog lights, and stock 710 steel wheels
or $5k with Ermish front/rear coilovers .. Koni front inserts, and DP camber plates .. bumpers/fog lights .. a way nicer interior/seats/door panels .. and the white wheels seen below:
wheel specs: ... rear: 15x8 +0 205/50 Rota RKR's .... front: 14x6 +18 195/60 Watanabes on 1/2" spacers .... the Patina/rust is all fake (I will show how, later in this thread)
