i just got a new 720 a few days ago, i havent hardly touched it yet except an oil change because i cant do anything to it untiul i sell my other truck, 78 chevy Luv, anyways the truck is in great condition except the tailgate latch is messed up and the paint is flaking and fading. My plans for the truck is to lower it with 3 inch blocks and i might go a little lower by removing one leaf and flipping the helper leaf. Im going to paint it black, with spray cans, thats how i did my last truck and it turned out great.. But once i paint it black i plan on painting the rising sun on one of the fender.

Justin-
Both those guys listed above are Vancouver locals.
Make nice, and they may tell you where the caravan will meet up at.

yeah all z motors...
head gaskets are common... headlights are a problem too. If the time comes message me Ill let you know the trick to fixing them... If you ever use your flashers and then your turn signals dont work, its the flasher knob... wiggle it, they start working again...
Sometimes they have relay problems. There is a fuel pump relay under he glove box hidden away, and a pain to get to... It takes power from the alternator, oil pressure switch and accessories. if it drops power from any of those the fuel pump shuts off....
There's some tricks to these old rigs. Tho, i've mostly been trouble free....

Make sure motor is cold when re-torquing the bolts. Loosen them only ONE AT A TIME and torque to 60 ft. lbs. Do in any order you like, front to back, back to front, cw or ccw does not matter.
While valve cover is loose, warm the motor up and set the valve lash to 0.012" on both. fastest way is to set TDC compression on #1 and you can do both #1 valves, intake on #2, exhaust on #3. Turn engine ONE turn up to TDC and set exhaust on #2, Intake on #3 and both valves on #4.... done!
Set ignition timing to 3 degrees before TDC.
You cannot adjust the idle mixture on the carb it is set and sealed at the factory. Actually it won't have a carb.
