Imagine buying a yellow 620, something cheap, and something for the wife to drive to work. But she's a little cautious, yet curious of the little truck. So, we head off to a remote part of the Vancouver Mall parking lot, and as we change drivers a little green Datsun 1200 (I think it was a 1200) pulls along side and offers help. . . I'm married with children. . . I'm beyond help! But it was great to know, there is a resource and a group out there that is supporting the little ole Datsun's and their owners. This is the message I sent to RedBanner after he gave me the URL to this website, and after I joined up. . . . He suggested I post it in the open forum! So. . . It's his fault! :roll: Oh! And it's nice to meet you Guys too!

Hey, thanks again for the stop by. . . I have a feeling that i may have found my oil leak. . . Found nothing on the starter/passenger side, but the smoke billows at shutdown around the carb/driver side, so I'm guesstimating a rocker arm cover leak on the carb side. Who knows for sure until I get in it.
I bought the thing a week ago today on Monday Aug12th in Beaverton for $350.00, it had been parked since November. So, I took it to Les Schwab to make sure the brakes were safe to drive down the Sylvan hills and we got it home Wednesday evening. We took the ugly-ass camper shell off yesterday, and the push/grill guard is coming off soon too. But before I go to far, I've gotta make sure that oil leak is solved!
The wife won't drive a stick, so finding this as an automatic was great! It runs pretty doggone well considering it's 36 years old! Dad had a 76 620 longbed 4speed that I learned to drive a stick in. I had a red 78 620 in high school that was an automatic. Bought it in 1979 and sold it in 1982. The second 620 I got was another 78, purchased in 1984 and lost due to theft in late 85 or early 86. It too was yellow, but was a 5 speed. Very fond memories of all three of those trucks!
I'm planning on making this my toy as well as her daily driver to work. . . From Vancouver to Emanuel Hospital is about 15 miles one way. Our Cherokee gets about 15mpg. So once I have this thing solidified (i.e. fix the vacuum leak in the brake booster, fix oil leak, change hoses and thermostat, get a new belt installed, get the grill guard gone, get the bulbs changed that are non-op, get the window washer working again, AND find out why the speedometer is non-op) then she can drive it and save us some money on gas! What you saw was her driving it in the Vancouver Mall parking lot for the first time. Like I said, she's used to driving a Jeep Cherokee. . . She thought it was fun!
See? There is hope for female-kind afterall!
