I sold my 2005 Chevy Cobalt and bought this 1971 four door 510 on February 10th 2010. I wanted to start learning about cars, no one ever taught me about that sort of thing growing up and if I wanted to teach my kids I'd better learn. I was torn between getting a 510, a early VW, or an E30. I went to my cousin for 510 info and my friend for German stuff. Eventually I checked out this 510 about 100 miles from where I lived. I prob paid too much for it as I've since found more rust than I Was told. But I was a noob and its actually been pretty good to me.

When I bought the car it had an L20b with a dogleg 5spd, a Weber down draft, 280zx struts, and some big flashy Enkei wheels. Here it is on my way to my first Canby a few months after acquiring it.

I ended up buying a Lancer center console because I always need some thing to be drinking, normally it's hot coffee. I had to cut a few inches from the front so it wouldn't block the heater and so the shifter hole would line up. I think a VG shifter sits back further so ill just find a new front piece when/if the time comes.

Very early on I got a rear seat from a guy that had it in his two door 510. It must have been wedged in there because I had to cut quite a bit of foam out. So far I just have the bottom fitting. But the firm bucket like seats feel nice.

your thinkin vg swap eh? as cool as they are, i wouldnt recommend it if your still just learning on this car. its not a very easy swap (lots of cutting/fab work), and theirs alot of other engines that would be super easy/ give you more than enough power.

that said, congrats! looks great!! what are your plans for it?

Oh I lurk like it should be illegal. I've seen people with my experience prob more attempt swaps and not finish. My ultimate goal is to build a VG34. However I still have tons of research and tons of learning. As of now the plans are build an engine, most likely an L20b or LZ22/23 with bike carbs and get the suspension and brakes to be tits. Then find a clean shell to paint and swap everything. Then prob a VG and caller her done. Good 'nough?

Sorry, didn't see this. Been busy with work and stuff.

I actually did sell them. I gave my cousin a good deal on them because he have me these ZX six spokes.

I can ask. His plan was to put them on his turbo Z, but he's self employed and has two kids, so who knows if he'll ever get around to it.

It's "Previous Owner Shitty Rattlecan Yellow" I think you can get it at most hardware stores.

I see that Sun Burst yellow all the time, it there is there any close ups in the sun?
My buddy has a can of it in his garage.
It is a toss up that color and this one.

This one is closer to the Bumble bee color.
I am leaning this way. It is closer to my powder coat color.
