It is the time of year, but also the market is shit.
I keep an eye on CL 200 times a day
People are asking crazy prices for their datsuns. Anybody can ask what they want... But 3500 - 5000 dollar 620s? lol. Ok... That old of a vehicle and that much cost, no thanks. I'm not saying its not worth anything, but not some of the prices people are asking. You can get a 90s hardbody or something for that.
I think the problem is 510s, 1200s, Nice 240/60z, and roadsters. They fetch a premium. People see a datsun for crazy mad money and assume theirs must be worth the same no? yeah, you're stocker 83 4x4 KC is worth that 3500 your asking! hahah. not. 13-1500 at most.
This, is in no way directed at your ad. Just what I see going on out there in general. 1200 asking price and a little bartering when someone came and saw it, I don't think that's too unreal. Tho, seeing that it doesn't like doing 60mph nor can I drive it home, 1200 is a far cry for me. I'd be more inclined to pay around 4-500 bucks especially having to borrow a truck and tow it home. I'd find a replacement carrier bearing and fix it. Take that noise out of the ad as well as it doesn't like freeway speeds and replacing the motor and trans would be a good fix.. let someone drive it around the block a few times and make a call on their own. (But that's what I would tell craigs listers.. not my fellow datsun heads)
PS, what does the rpm range look like at around 60mph? You can run these little motors at 5k all day or should be able to. I don't clutch dump my cars. But every datsun I've owned has had the valves float at least once. I'm not afraid to use that 6500 RPM limit and sometimes miss a little
That being said, I think the brochures on the 521s state you can run them at 4500-5k. My 720 has a 4 speed now, and I don't hesitate to mash it down i5 at 75mph. Sounds like I'm in an airplane the whole time lulz

You definetly bring up good points, it would be nice to fix that stuff and clean up the ad.
I think fixing the carrier bearing will help with the slow driving and maybe bringing it back up to stock height will help and getting new tags also. I think if I did those things I would be wanting closer to $1200 than $800!
She's a one owner unmolestered work truck and seeing what's on cl right now she seems to me anyway to be a good deal.
Thanks for the input. Rory

lol I'm not saying doing all that. If it were me, I wouldn't put much more than a carrier bearing in it.
PS, if you replace the carrier bearing. You can make a spacer for it since its lowered. All you need is a 1"x1" piece of square tubing, drill bit, and something to cut it to length. If you raise it 1 inch itll be plenty enough to make it last.
PPS. I'm sure you had it aligned already since lowering it (the toe gets way out when you do) And if you raise it, then you have to re-align it or pay someone to do it.. More $$

I've read about doing the carrier bearing with rubber wrapping and to be honest I was pretty lazy when it came to lowering her, 3" blocks in the back and just screwed the torsion adjustment way down. It looks good(to me) but rides like shit, I didn't get the wheels aligned(its my fun, drive once a month car) so I wasn't that worried about doing the front in the short term.
If I raise her back up to stock height then I should be good to go, right?
And thanks 510freak for the reputation point
don't know if I deserve it yet!

Any time you adjust the torsion bars it messes with the toe. It was a 320 dollar lesson for me. lowering puts the toe out iirc, and up it goes in. If you get it exact, its probably fine. (mind you tho, i slammed the shit out of mine and probably drove it a thousand miles. Got home one day and heard air pissing out)
IDK about the rubber trick. I'd be more inclined in finding a new one and then just raising it. Slammed trucks ride like shit lol. Something you get used to. However, i replaced my shocks with pinto shocks and it does OK. Raising the shock towers 2 inches really helps out. But thats more work then you will want to put on a truck for sale. IDK where this is going anymore lulz.

You can make a new for sale thread if you want lol. Nobody will judge you after we put all this info in this one
lol sorry man.
We can move this to general discussion and change the title to... "620 FS discussion" or something if you want.
