Re: No more Canby :(

I plan to be there at least on Saturday, maybe Sunday. Probably bring my turbo Roadster Saturday and if I decide to go Sunday I’ll bring my KA 521.

Re: My 1969 Datsun 521 kingcab diesel

I am pretty sure any turbo for a Subaru EA82T motor would work. As best I know, the XT 4cyl turbo motor was no different than the ones in the GL/GL10/Brat. One way to make sure it would be the same is there should be an A/R # somewhere on the turbo, usually on the compressor housing. That might open...

Re: Really Ratty Rusty Ruby 510/miata

If that chop saw has a fiber type blade, you should swap it for a carbide tip dry cut blade. Cuts faster and cleaner and as long as you don’t lose teeth, can be sharpened a couple times. For the skin, I’m not sure what you can do stiffen an original skin without making a new one out of thicker metal...

Re: Patient persistence may have paid off

Thanks Wayno. I’ve never been one to hound someone about anything. My feeling has always been if it was meant to happen, it will. A freindly reminder every once in a while usually suffices.

Patient persistence may have paid off

So a few years back I contacted a guy who said he had some 1st gen Dodge Colts that he was thinking of selling. He said he was getting older and was thinking he only wanted to keep 1 to fix up and would possibly sell the others. We went back and forth for about a year without him actually committing...

Fly long enough over time and I’m sure every airline will have some sort of screwup that will affect you. As long as it doesn’t happen while in the air, I’ll deal with it.

Re: My 1980 Datsun 720 diesel dually

That is not necessarily true. While the fact there is no more weight is correct, it is the leverage on the bearing that is the issue. If you take your example of the rod in the ground, what is the force on the ground when you pull that rod from the top? What about from 6”? While there is bending for...

Hellaflush!

It sure looks like those spacers would put a lot of load on the bearing, or does that rear end have floating axles?

Re: Around Waynos house

I hope I’m wrong, but usually (at least with me) there will be next to no interest, but then as soon as you no longer have them, there will be a demand. If you want to guarantee to get rid of them, package them with one of your dogleg 5 speeds and away they will go. All or nothing deal!

Don’t you love it when contractors look at you cross eyed when you suggest they fix things the proper way?

Re: Just another car I'll never finish.

“Dragging feet and making excuses” Sounds like one of my specialties. I can’t stand messy/spray bombed (like don’t remove anything, just spray it all) engine compartments, drives me nuts for whatever reason. It just looks so much better with a little attention to detail. Sometimes with a rattle can ...

Re: Nissan factory chrome lug nuts to fit 280 ZX turbo wheels.

factory are probably better as the chrome on the aftermarket are shit. not that it really pertains here, but the Toyota mags of the same era take the same type short shoulder nuts with a 1.5 pitch, so you could put Yota' wheels on your Datsun or vise versa with the right nuts. I had the snowflake tu...

If you don’t actually need factory, you can buy these new aftermarket pretty cheap like on fleabay.
