Re: Around Waynos house
Well it is looking more and more like a telescope everyday, I made the side bearings using my drill press and a jig so I could rotate the piece of plywood and make a perfect half circle. https://i.postimg.cc/gkX7dn5W/002.jpg Then I made a base to set the telescope assembly in. https://i.postimg.cc/g...

Re: Around Waynos house
I have decided to do away with the wood mirror box, it weighed a lot and the plywood was falling apart, even though I could buy way better plywood I decided to make a mirror cell holder out of metal, so far it is way better and I made it larger, it was 18.5" square, now it is around 20.5" square and...

Re: Around Waynos house
Here is what it looks like now. https://i.postimg.cc/wTyzndyt/010.jpg I have not cut the tubes yet, I need some other stuff like a secondary mirror holder/mirror, I need to make spiders but need the secondary to do that, I measured stuff out and sitting on the ground like it is in the photo the focu...

Re: Around Waynos house
This is where I am now, the mirror box it too small now, but I was not going to use this one anyway, I am mocking stuff up to see what will work. https://i.postimg.cc/Y069ZHC7/001.jpg I planned on holding the truss tubes in with this under what I used, but this was the only one that did not fall apa...

Re: Around Waynos house
Well I made the real mirror cell and new plastic arms, I like the wood ones better. https://i.postimg.cc/tCtNLF0P/002.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/sxC5Lgww/001.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Y9Pt2vJz/003.jpg It's a lot nicer now, everything works as it should so far. I think I am going to dump the plywood box...

Re: Around Waynos house
Well I got sorta fancy with my mirror support, at first I went with 2 arms, but the bottom arm was not touching the lower part of the mirror. https://i.postimg.cc/zvt9pvWQ/003.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/PfSsd3cM/004.jpg Then I made a self centering support with one arm and it now touches both upper an...

Re: Around Waynos house
It is a mirror cell(holder), it is what the mirror is in inside the telescope, I made some progress today. I put together all the white plastic contact pads that the mirror rests on and I made what is called a wiffle tree assembly that supports the mirror when is it at an angle, you can see the whit...

Re: Around Waynos house
Well I am starting my first scratch made Dobsonian telescope, I received my 16" mirror 3 days ago and I am making a mirror cell(holder) from scratch, first I am making what I want to make out of wood, sheet metal, and scrap metal I have around here, once I have my design figured out I will make the ...

Re: Around Waynos house
It took the guy 2 years to be happy with this photo, this is the Orion Nebula(M42), what I can see thru my telescope doesn't really look like this, it is more blue and light grey, the red has not shown up in my eyepiece so far but I have had nothing but mostly poor seeing except a few times. https:/...

Re: Around Waynos house
I have got into this telescope thing pretty deep, I will likely be selling the 6 inch scopes I have in the near future as they work just fine, but what I am looking at is not large enough in the eyepiece for me to see much in them 6" scopes, instead of being a small dot it is a large dot, but it is ...

Re: Escape From the Prison Planet
I know my whiplash symptoms did not appear for 5 hours, then I started getting this heartburn feeling, by the time sleep time came it was awful, but when I laid down to go to sleep it got way better, next morning I felt great till I got up and took a shower, I almost puked in the shower.

Re: My 1969 Datsun 521 kingcab diesel
I put 266 miles on this today without a hiccup, so I believe I didn't hurt the engine, I received my new dual plug oil sender yesterday, now when ever I want I can switch over to an electrical oil gauge and get rid of the plastic oil line, if it was not on the driver side it would not be near the ex...

Re: My 1969 Datsun 521 kingcab diesel
I went to the auto parts store and spent just over $10.00 to get my truck back on the road, I put the plastic tube in a rubber fuel line and put the rubber fuel line in a wire mesh cover made for fuel lines, the heat in there will not likely do anything to it right now I bought an electrical sender ...

Re: My 1969 Datsun 521 kingcab diesel
If you buy the copper tubing at the hardware store where do you get the compression fittings for both ends? Glad it happened in your driveway and not on the freeway. I don't trust those plastic lines at all. I've never had a problem with copper though. It's much cheaper buying it by the foot at the ...

Re: My 1969 Datsun 521 kingcab diesel
So on my way home from Thanksgiving dinner my headlights started to get brighter and dimmer, kind of pulsing, the dash lights were doing it also, very annoying, so this morning I check everything and the glow plug light was acting weird, it would just blink instead of staying on, and from the stuff ...

Re: Around Waynos house
Well I tried my chair last night and it had an issue, when I sat on it, it would slowly slide down, the farther back in it I sat the faster it dropped, it didn't drop all at once and compress my spine which is nice, but I would soon be stretching my neck trying to keep my eye in the eyepiece, so tod...
