Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Yeah, the main reason I want the upgraded ecu is so I can tune it exactly and have it have better correction for conditions. Theoretically the stock system should be good since I have a new wiring harness, but the stock ecu is 30+ years old. A nice new one that could be interfaced with would be a we...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Yes, yes I do! :D But yet, it's just an old Datsun......just think, I could have bought a brand NEW car!! And gone fast. But that just isn't my style.

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

So I kinda want this: https://rawbrokerage.com/products/haltech-platinum-pro-plug-in-ecu-for-nissan-r32-r33-rb20-rb25-rb26-ht055101 There is this also, which would require another used ECU. But much cheaper. And wouldn't be a bad idea considering they probably fix a lot of problems with used ECUs wh...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Anyway, point being I got to cruise the wagon last night, and it was glorious! Actually went to a small car meet. I know, social distancing. I had planned on staying away, but it was definitely fun and the wagon was a big hit. Even better, a local cop came by and was all stoked by it! :D I even race...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Yeah, I'll drive it to work and see how she does. Went for a cruise last night, all was well. I doubt there's any air in there, but you never know. I'm going to check the level this morning too, see if it's dropped any. I may have Nate do a gravity bleed at work where I can get it in the air a lot e...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Alright, I finally have brakes. They're weird, but they work. Replaced all the rubber lines, even the rear, since I hadn't done that ever, I'm pretty sure. Had some leaks at the front caliper lines, tightened those. Bled the holy crap out of all 4 corners. Checked rear drums for adjustment. LR neede...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

2 years smart guys!! :) So I hooked up the check valve tonight, and readjusted the brake booster. Nothing. Still the same problem. Feels normal when the car is off, no pedal when the car is on. Now that I've re-checked, I'm going to blame the booster. Since I can't find another booster close by, I'm...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

So I realized after checking the factory service manual, that A: I have the booster pedestal adjusted incorrectly, and B: when I removed the power brakes, I apparently took the check valve line with it. And I'm sure I squirreled it away somewhere, but damn if I can figure out where that is. So I wen...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Found them!! Got everything back together, even put the brake booster back on with the new master cylinder. With the car off, pedal felt pretty good. But with the car on, brakes seem to go to the floor and I'm running out of pedal. I'm suspecting I haven't gotten all the air out of the system. I'll ...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Finally! It's back up and running. Fuel issues all sorted out. Now I need to finish up the other things. Got the passenger side compartment mostly back together, but now I'm trying to find my bag of plastic clips. I'm missing the bottom door edge trim clips and the ecu cover clips. Not that many, bu...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Alright, so things are sorted, should have it worked out this Saturday. THEN I'll finally get to drive the wagon again! At least it will be much cooler temperatures. Also lo-jacked the wagon and the RX7 today. Got some sweet little bluetooth trackers. www.xyfindables.com Hid those little suckers in ...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

FUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK. Should have called dad sooner. So, yeah, the ISR adapter is goldish. So zinc coated. And apparently zinc releases inpurities, which is why I had little leak bubbles everywhere I welded. Apparently you need to grind the zinc coating off really well before you weld. And I didn't do ...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Motherfucking ISR fuel pressure regulator adapter!!!!! I tried to weld it 4 times, leaks every time. Wait, back up, I wanted to re-orient the nipple, so I cut it off, welded the hold and drilled another hole to put the nipple in. Every fucking time, I get a leak. Finally, I weld the hole, spin it ar...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Makin' braccckkkeeeeetttts.......pretty sure I'm going to need to cut that bottom piece out for the return line, I'll double check. Didn't think about that before I painted it, lol. This time I should be actually able to use the liquid filled gauge as it will be vertical so the fluid won't leak out....

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

Got my stuff from Summit the other day, and the ISR fuel pressure regulator adapters came today, woohoo! That means this weekend I should be able to hook up the new adjustable fuel pressure regulator and finally get the RB back up to correct!

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

That said, ordered up the same Aeromotive unit as the Z car. Got two adapters for the regulators. Next weekend I shall hook it up! And I'll finally use the liquid filled gauge because I should be able to mount this FPR straight up. I hope. I have a liquid filled gauge I haven't been able to use due ...

Re: Wynona the wagon's resurrection!

https://fuelab.com/11-boost-reference-fuel-pressure-regulators/ OK, here is a seriously good article about how 1:1 boost pressure regulators work. I didn't under stand it before, I do now. I thought it would overfuel if 15 psi boost means 15 psi of additional pressure. But in fact, it's the opposite...
