So the trip up here was pretty stressful for me. Not only worrying about whether or not the truck would make it but, I HAD to be up here to start work. One guy was going home and another was starting a job up north by Canada. So that stress is now gone and I have come to realize this place is no place for a datsun or any vehicle that you want to preserve or take care of. He'll it shouldn't even be a place for humans but, here we are a bunch of dumbass es scratching out a living.

The fucking wind is just non stop all day today and yesterday. Blowing the truck all over the road. Got trucks comin at me on a narrow ass 2 lane blowing up rocks and snow and shit. Every one and their fucking brother does 80 mph no fucks given. I don't really like driving the Honda up here either.

Tonight it's supposed to be 16 below wind chill about 40 below. My conclusion from this adventure is, I don't plan on bringing a datsun up here ever again. One trip was good I have memories now time to get her home and enjoy her there. Luckily going home in won't be pressed for time and can enjoy it a little more.

So I am still have some issues with the truck sputtering and running like crap. It does it between 2000 and 3000 rpm. I took it out the other night and it was really baad. But, it was -12 outside so I don't think the weber likes air that cold and am.pretty sure that had something to do with it running so bad. Our mechanic Felipe is going to get me another fuel filter for it tomorrow and even said he would take the carb apart and clean it if need be. I am heading home on the 3rd and kinda need it to run good.

A buddy of mine told me to take a sock and wrap around the air cleaner in the extreme cold and that will help it run better. I think I will try that. It's supposed to stay pretty cold for the remainder of my time up here.

On a positive note, everyone LOVES it!! I have gotten so many comments on it! I need to get some pics of it on location.

Carb Icing up?

When it does this, pop off the air cleaner, look down into the carb(around the venturis) there may be ice build up.
Datsuns up here when its cold are notorious for this.

I think that is part of it Lou. Especially the other night. Right now it is 33 above 0 and I took her for a spin after tinkering around with it. At about 1/3 throttle is where the sputtering happens. Not major, just enough to be noticed and effect performance. Like going into the wind under a load. If I push throttle past that point she wakes up and away we go. I can mash it to the floor and she hauls ass too. It's just that one spot that is coughing. Felipe thinks it has a little bit of cloggage in the primary jet. He is gonna look at tomorrow or next day.

I can probly drive it home like this but don't really want to be worrying about it the whole way home.

Felipe just got back from parts store with a hand full of bushings. The first one he test fit looks like the same exact size as the one in dizzy. Drive old one out. Press new one in and hollow it out just a tad and should be golden!! Felipe is awesome!!! I owe him big time if this works. Oh its a brass bushing too.

Test drive went great!

I got 3 guys that want to buy this from me now.

Oh and it is definitely a low.mileage datsun. 43,000 and change on the odo. Just working out the problems from it sitting for 20 years.

Any chance of getting a part number of the bushing? Matchboxes are said to have a bad bearing design, I have left one in the JY before because I could make the strator and reluctor hit each other, it may help to save more.
