I wonder how much the roof rack slows you down?

Probably not enough to matter. It got a lot of comments though :D .

I've never drag raced, but I imaging when I lost by a tenth of a second I'd be cursing that roof rack.. lol. It does look pretty good though,

Bracket racing is all about consistency. You are basically racing against yourself. I lost because I'm kind of a shitty driver. I learned a lot though. Next time...

So, last night I thought I'd just tie up a couple loose ends. I replaced my broken shift knob with an equally shitty one. You know how hard it is to find an aftermarket one that isn't super ricey or look like something in Jamee's nightstand? Then I wired up my charge light. The last thing I did was finally install my copper oil pressure line to replace the plastic one that came with the gauges. It leaks like CRAZY! It's a VDO kit that I bought a couple weeks ago. I didn't realize that it had been opened then resealed (clear tape) until I went to open it last night. I think someone robbed the ferules out of it then they were replaced with some that weren't quite the right shape then put back on the shelf. I'll pick up some new ones today and try again.

Maybe I'll just fuel up the bike and go for a ride instead.

Thanks man. My fat baby loves to eat.

And don't get too attached to the AutoBahns. I think I mentioned earlier that I'm just borrowing them from my brother and he's planning to start back in on his Z soon. Plus, I picked up some stuff from Wayno so I can start on my replacement wheels. It'll probably be a winter project at the shop when we slow down.

Finally got around to installing the sending unit for my new gauges. Didn't want to cut another hole so I just replaced the provided top plate with one I made to fit the original sender opening. Out with the old...

...in with the new.

I also got tired of the gas fumes inside the car every time I filled up so I bought some caps for all the canister vent ports.
Image
I ended up cutting the old fuel supply tube just inside the top of the tank. That will become my new vent. At this point i Just have a hose on it but I'm thinking I might add a more modern canister in the cavity under the car just next to the spare tire. We'll see how it works out. I haven't tried to fill it up yet so I might find it needs a bigger vent anyway. At least the gauge works now.

Clutch adjustment time. Was tight at the fork and starting to slip in higher gears so I slacked it up. Needed a little more throw at the pedal (never has been quite right) so I had to cut the rod and weld in a 1/2" extension. All better now.
