Once you get it all sorted out I think you'll really like it for a DD. I noticed the distributor. My buddy's '99 is DIS. Like a weirdo, I checked Rockauto to see if yours was the last year and apparently they could have had either in both years. Odd.
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.

Nice.. ! I hope so thanks DRIVEN ! The DIS for 98' is something I wouldn't have guessed at all ( I just cavemanishly assumed 99'+ was when they did that system ). I guess just like mechanical and hydraulic t-belt tensioner option for the year ? go figure. Weirdo's get things done.

Amazon saw you buy it. The demand goes up, they don't have many left. Price goes up. No one buys for a bit, price goes down. I have bought a fair share of things where the price went up after I paid. Like my tie rod ends for 7, after they went up to 17...

Yup ! I like to put about 20-30 things in the shopping cart just to watch the price changes take effect every-time I log in or stroll around. The one sale for my water pump switch from sold by Amazon (lower price) w/prime shipping to Car Parts Kings (higher price) w/free shipping no prime available. I'm just glad I didn't order a plastic impeller water pump... lolz. (about had a fret when a picture of a plastic impeller was on the outside of the box before opening even though I knew it wasn't a picture of the actual pump inside :| lol ).

No... I failed :( ... lol
I did test drive a 5spd 98' V70 with 342,000 on the body/5spd.
It drove like a dream.... like the chassis/trans had 100,000-130,000 miles on it !
(was suppose to have an engine with 120,000 miles in it.... that's the magic number for all claimed replacement engines round these parts... :| lol)
The engine did run good in it no doubt.

I slightly thought about harvesting an S70 5spd for this since I really REALLY like the 5spds they offer.
Will just drive it likely though , and talk talk talk ... lol (I'm really not sure what is what at this point though lol)

Converting an automatic to manual would probably likely involve replacing the entire dash/engine harness in the car. To me, not worth it unless the auto tranny died.

Very, very costly.


I tried explaining this theory to a detailer at my work about his automatic Acura RSX. He doubted me.
After research-he just bought a manual RSX after selling his auto; and me lunch for saving him tons of money and headache.

No worries I was just day-dreaming , and liking the 5spd idea a bit too much... lol.

Good-year Poly-V something something serpentine belt came in today.
Can't beat just under $11 shipped.
Well actually you can on ebay for $7 shipped I just like Amazon more for some things :) .

New Timing components , and belt on. Pull the pin later. Yes that's RTV I suck lol. I did however use Teflon sealer on the water pump bolts though. The old hydraulic tensioner looked to have barely ever so slightly started to leak. Wasn't bad yet , and was the "aisin" volvo OE equipment. Cool cool.

To do before Replacement goes in
*Take out/Re-install rear main seal.
*Attach/pickup last breather hose to PCV box
*Install PCV box
*Pull off Oil-pan/replace pickup o-rings/scrape gasket/re-install oil pan
*Switch out Distributor Cap/Rotor/Wires
*Thermostat
*Umm...pull existing engine out... lol
