Post by datmo » Wed Jul 03, 2013 9:40 pm

Crystal. She's a 1968 4 door sedan. She's got a ton of rust under her paint and I love it that way. jk. Can't wait to get rid of this crap.

I don't drive because im too young but all of this car is from my minimum wage poor 17 year old ass.
I do what i can.

I've been building this thing for about a year and I've fallen in love with it.
I don't know a ton but I'm trying.
I'll edit this later when i have a bit more time.

what i have accomplished.

-seats
-carpet
-fixed my transmission hole
-280zx struts
-front coilovers
-radio
-quick release
-new seat belts
-door panels
-center console
-dash pad
-steering wheel
-camber plates
-sound deadened
-removed rust within car
-tail lights
-radiator
-master cylinder from Flatcat
-put door speakers
-window washer pump
-rear coilovers
-paint valve cover
-new window rubbers
-dual carbs

PLANS

-l20b
-rear alum brakes
-tite seal under hood to keep from over heating
-redo the headliner
-redo body
-paint the same color but remove the rust
-rewire
-350z or s15 air vents
-repaint engine bay
-make rear dash pad cover
-front right hand window regulator
-gas door lock
-ac
-install door panels
-rear shades off ebay
-fender mirrors
-mk1 lip

and time for pics.
Not the best but here.

the outside
Image

the interior with no door panels.
I haven't put the panels on because it's pointless to get them dirty.
This was before my shift knob and all the rust was removed.

The site is just starting out. We need everyone who can, to participate in their build threads, talk, your opinions and input etc, all across the board. It'll take a minute. But it will be active within time. I really dig the car. Good job. I get in to big o hurry and rush my stuff. Good on you! I really dig the grille

Thanks. one of my biggest problems is not rushing.
I want everything for my car so i plan stuff before i have money and it doesn't always turn out good.
I can spread the word for the site if you want. but in time, haters will come sadly.
for now, lets be optimistic.

Just to start this thread moving a bit.
I was wondering if anyone knew how to wire speakers through the kickers.
I was planning on buying a set of some within the next two weeks.
After i buy my southern ways hopefully from redbanner if they look good.

kicker panels. sorry.
I've seen it done before im just not sure how the wiring works.
I made my own kicker panels that i was going to cut holes for in order to put some speakers in.
anyone on here done it?

Wiring is easy. You know how to actually wire the speakers right?

If you pop the kick panel off, you can see that you could hide some wires in a pre existing hole and loop it in behind the carpet (if you have any) then up behind the dash to your deck. I buy whatever good gauge wire at the store, then wrap it with black tape to make it un-seeable.

I would also buy some sealing foam ducting tape from the hardware store.
Not duct tape.

This foam tape is to stick it to the floor and add some protection from getting kicked, stepped on, or pulled.

Yeah i know how to wire the speakers weirdly enough. lol
I'll be sure to get some tape.
I think my dad has some. he knows how to do this but wont help a lot of times because he says i need to learn.

So from the existing holes out under the carpet to the dash.
I'll try to hide them as much as possible.
I have a ton of nonsense wires on my car atm,
I just wanna rip em out but not too sure which is what.
Thanks guys. I'll get more into detail and come back to it when i get the speakers.

Hover the mouse below where it says Download Link, and download that rar.. It should have a wiring diagram for your car in there.

dude. if she drives a datsun. you're set for life.

a problem has come to hand.
my door stopped opener thingy. Idk what the fuck its called broke.
So, I took it to a friends shop to weld and i kept telling him how to weld it properly.
in the end, he STILL did it wrong but he's awesome so it's all good.
No one listens to the kid...

Here's some pics. I got home all excited because I was suppose to be able to drive her today with my dad since I only have a permit. and he said well we gotta fix the door first. So now it's prolonged.

The top part is suppose to be welded on the opposite side
Image

Not suppose to make a square shape
Image

I tried getting this screw out to do the reverse but the last owner really fucked it up.
Image

I'm also going to get some speakers today and install them.
the wiring will probably be the hardest shit ever because even with manuals, I can't do it right unless i fucked up a couple times.

I also redid my center console with black honda paint so it matches the interior more.(has a vinyl look)

Excited to get shit done. but my dad never stays on point...i aint drivin today :(

Wiring is easy...

From the wires from the deck, up in the dash, as clean as possible of course. Then when you get to the kick panel, there are holes right at the bottom of the dash, drop the wire down, and pull through where ever you want.

No need to run the wire under the carpet...

I found them today as he said.
Thanks anyways.

Todays works:

My dad lied to me and didn't get to drive the car. lol
He actually didnt take me to get speakers either so I didn't accomplish much.
I did take out the door stopper and put it back together correctly but then all the old screws dont seem to fit so i may be doing something wrong
or using the wrong screws but im almost sure im not.

I'm going to get some kenwood speakers from bestbuy tomorrow.
these in fact.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/5-1/4%22+2- ... &cp=1&lp=1

I'll have to figure out some more junk because my dad was going to take me but he's leaving to maryland monday and wont be able to take me.
I'll be skating around town for car parts... the 17 year old.

If only I could drive.
