Oh sharp eyes I see ...

yeah... *hangs head* that's the #5 intake valve retainer itself apparently it got hammered on or something (not sure if the chicken or the egg came first?) , and shall be replaced/fixed :|
#5 Intake valve has problems , and I'm sure it is a sticky valve.. ( fought me a little bit taking it out.. carefully as I could :| )
#5 won't be going back in ... I slid in #4 , and #6 intake valves into the #5 intake valve guide... with = success.
Rocker looks good though.

Shall be replacing it , and moving forward !

Alright so #5 intake valve was deemed crap on the valve stem.
The problem area was just below the retainer keeper edge = mushroomed.
Even though it was not bent , and had free operation throughout it's range of lift/spinning.... the awful bugger wouldn't come out without a fight.

I then wen't to my spare P79 head , and borrowed a few GOOD intake and exhaust valves (in case I need more , but not likely).

Bad valve on the left (I had to sand it a little to get it out of the guide... grrrrr) , and good valve right .

The rest look good to go after cleaning and inspection (they have been lapped previously not long ago).

shifting gears and moving in a slightly different direction...

I pulled the camshaft and camshaft towers off to make sure all the alignment dowels were in place after a hunch.
For the moment I'll be using a different head.

This is the spare head , and these pictures are in the process of cleaning.

Making sure the oil passages are clear/clean can get a little weird for me. I taped off the entry holes on the bottom to minimize perpetrators.

I forgot to say earlier I pulled out all the valve train on this head obviously. The lifters , rockers , springs , and pads are in the other box on my workbench. All of these components are in order ;)
Image

cleaned all the valves up with a wire wheel. (carbon was much harder to get off some then others .. this miffs me a bit lol)
Image

This all should move on along faster at this point ... for the head at least :|
