well here is the ongoing build for my FIRST Datsun. MY WIFE bought this little beasty for me a few years ago. its a 73 PL620. here she is the day i got her. i know night oics suck....
and some better ones a few days later. the core support was haggared to begin with but i could not tell till i pulled the bumper.
we had a little issue bringing her home which required a new radiator. i got one that worked for a few years but it finally died and killed my L16. but that comes a touch later. so while i was waiting to find a rad, i put some bucket seats in.... not very comfortable....
just some stockers from a KC i picked up..
came home a few days later and my son had done this.
yay new radidiator!!!!! also while i was waiting for the rad, i "restored" the grille and emblem. i also found a leak that i dont like. right at the seam for the cab wall and the floor on the passenger side. no fun.

Re: Tabitha aka Tabby 73 620
so i met up with redeye and picked up some seats. those were a little more comfy but killed my back....
SNOW TIME!!!!! if you can tell me what movie that's from, although it may be in a few different ones, one internets goes to you.
i ws looking for some wheels and ted had a free datsun garage sale since he had to move. i picked these beauties up.
sometime later, i picked up a weber carb at teh boneyard. worked great till the main shaft started leaking. nothing $20 and some time wont take care of but it takes teh time and money.
since t had the god awful truck mirrors, i hit up a local VW shop and found a set of EMPI mirrors i liked. i used to have a toyota that had a Vitiloni mirror on it of the same style and i liked how they looked. just so you know, EMPI mirrors SUCK!!!!! they kept vibrating out of adjustment in like 5 minutes of driving. looked nice though.....
and yes i use my truck for work.....
well i finally got my wheels on and DAMN they look good!!!
you remember the floors and teh cab leak i have, well i went to PORTLAND and got a cab..... in the 620.... its a push me pull you!!!!
and the night i killed my clutch.... this is all with the original L16.
yes thats a LOT of wood! Black Walnut. HEAVY!!!!!
so i get teh clutch fixed and head to moms house to visit. she has to leave for work but her partner is there so we stick around and visit. well, mom backed into my little tabby, and pushed it 10 FEET BACKWARDS! needless to say, scratch one ARROW straight bumper. She pushed in the core support bad enough the radiator was touching the fan. i was NOT pleased. but the grille survived!
a Hi-Lift jack pulled that out. but about 7 months later i rear ended an 04 Pathfinder. i hadn't found a bumper yet so the damage was, um, yeah.....
that same day i picked up this bucket of shit.... a ROTTEN 78 620 KC. these pics were taken AFTER i got the front of tabby straightish again.
straightish
so i painted the hood, to give it a slightly more tuner look, and guess what.... this little shit,
my son 15yo at the time, did this.....
so during this time i was using this baby as a daily. i went out to seattle for some parts for my Jetta, and the rad failed popping the head gasket on my L16. i figured i had the 78 so i could drive that till i got the parts to fix Tabby. yeah..... 50mph was not happening, i figured the trans was going so i parted the rustbucket KC for my little Tabby. L20 POWER!!!! i went through the motor and put the rad from the 78 in. it'll fit just not a direct bolt in.
after a while though i got tired of seeing it multi colored, so i painted it.
and this is how it looked at POTD 3 years ago.
future plans are.....
auto swap, yes a manual to automatic swap for the wife
retro 70s mini truck style body kit
widened steel slots, 15x8 or 9 rear and 15x7 front
4 wheel disk
full repaint in the true blue
and eventually BMW projectors with HIDs and yes its keeping the Mercedes foglights in the inners.
i hope you like the build, i will update as things progress, or if the knocking L20 decides to shit the bed. or both!

It never ends when you own a Datsun.
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.
