1974 620 Pickup @ Vancouver PicknPull
1974 620 Pickup @ Vancouver PicknPull
My headlight assembly in my Dakota had a melt down problem so I headed to the Vancouver PicknPull this morning (Sat. 9/14) to get the one off the rig they had listed in their inventory (a piece of cake removal! No tools necessary except a phillips head screwdriver to remove the grill bezel). The Dakota was in row 27, BUT in Row #1 was a black (formerly blue) 620! According to their records it was put in the yard on 9/11/13.
#1-The body was pretty straight, except for the wheel wells inside the bed were mashed down a bit.
#2-The dash was there, but already disassembled. The only thing left was the dash light adjuster and the cigarette lighter (thrown behind the seat).
#3-The seat was covered in the standard black and white tweed aftermarket seat cover.
#4-The hood stand was missing, and I suspect that might be the reason that nothing under the hood was missing yet.
#5-It's a 4 speed.
#6-Door locks and ignition are gone.
#7-Door cards are damaged by the bonehead who took the door locks (folded and broken). Door handles, inside and out are present as well as the window regulators and handles.
#8-Glass on the doors are good, rear window is good but I fail to remember windshield condition, my apologies.
#9-Antenna has been modified from original and the doggone phillips head to remove it for inspection was rusted and rounded off.
#10-Ash tray is in the bed.
#11-Steel wheels and the tires are there.
#12-Brake drums in the front haven't been removed yet.
#13-Tail lights are there, lenses looked to be in good condition. Side markers in the front of the truck, as well as the turn signal lenses were looking good. However, the side markers on the bed looked to be spray painted.
#14-Tailgate is there and looked to be in very good condition.
#15-It has a steel cage mounted in the bed, it raises the bed side up to about eye level, but is mesh, and I must say, very well constructed.
#16-Front bumper looks great!
#17-Rear Dock bumper looks stout!
#18-Window wiper arms are still present
#19-Grill, with a faded nameplate, is in remarkably good condition.
#20-Fusebox is still present, but the faceplate isn't anywhere to be found.
----------------
#21-Sorry guys, I took the door lock knobs. (Mine almost looked corroded! )
After looking at this thing. . . I believe, it probably would have run and driven to the yard of its demise. . . And that, to me is a sad thing! I'll field any questions to the best of my knowledge.

There comes a time when reliving your youth, requires the acquisition of a Datsun, like the one you drove in high school and the other one when you were just done with college. The issue then becomes. . . Fitting again, behind the wheel!

I think so. This is a good pretty good explanation though!

I used to own an automotive core company for just short of 20 years. In some of the wrecking yards we'd be directed to the cars awaiting crushing and make a list of stuff we wanted off and buy them as cores. Things changed and values dropped and the market adjusted so cores are not what they used to be. But I don't have much to do these days. . . When I can, I'll do more.draker wrote:I think so. I actually started a "wrecking yard sightings" thread, I thought that would work for wrecking yard stuff.flatcat19 wrote:Do we need a junkyard report thread?

You and me (and anyone else on here that wants to tag along), need to go to lunch on a Friday sometime. I'll cover for you (everyone else foots their own $9.00 bill), and I hope you like Italian, especially an authentic Italian restaurant (not Olive Garden), AND one that has a LASAGNA buffet on Friday's. Let me know if you, and/or anyone else is interested and we can finalize the arrangements!RedBanner wrote:Oh and the signiture gave me a good chuckle also lol
Deal?
