So here are some interesting facts about the Bakken oil formation.

The first oil well was established in 1951 and in 28 years, produced 585,000 barrles of oil. Just a straight down dig a hole in the ground well.

Current U.S. Geological surveys put the number of recoverable barrels of oil, between the Bakken and the Three Forks formation at 7.4 Billion! In 2008 they said it was 4.8 billion barrles.

Currently 675 Million barrels have been produced by the Bakken.

The current fleet of rigs drilling the Bakken and Three Forks wells will take 15-20 years to develop the entire thermally mature resource area.

Drilling and completion of the average Bakken well costs $9million.

It takes about 110 days to complete one oil well.

Landowners of these wells get paid up to 20% from the oil companies. Needless to say some people are doing very well because of oil.

Funny you mention that. I got stuck going around it. Passenger side wheels were off the ground. My cousin Russ had to pull me backwards a few feet so I could get another run at it.
