Not sure... But it melted more than the fusable link. Got the box all soldered back up and in working shape. Just gotta replace some connectors and a wire on the harness and check all my grounds again.

I question is can you make circuits with this fuse box, meaning can one spade on one side supply power to 2 or more spades on the opposite side, I asked for more details, but there were not any, maybe I asked the wrong question.

Its obvious... The screw at the bottom is power in. It distributes power to all fuses at once. Then threw the fuse, and out the spade. Either everything gets Batt, OR Ign, OR ACC power. I dont like it.

Re: 71 510 wagon - Mexican Red
Thanks for the heads up Laecaon.
I managed to solder the fusebox back together and get everything working fine again. Still not sure what caused the whole fiasco.
As far as the fuse box goes, I'd like to find a way to use an old 510 box and just build the grid of fuse holders from scratch and make it look all stock and whatnot. It's just a matter of tracking down a place who sells those in the small quantity I want.

Welp. More trouble.
Car idles fine, drives alright for a minute, then starts cutting out like crazy and dies. Turn the key: starts right back up and the cycle starts over. Also, it smells kinda lean at times.
I think it's a fuel issue, but there's fuel in the filter and the float is spot-on. Last night Jake said it blew some blue smoke when I started it back up after it died.
Anyone have a similar problem?

Sounds like you might have something in your tank getting sucked against the pickup. Once it dies, the suction from the pump bleeds off and the debris is released. It starts back up and may run perfectly until the crud gets sucked up again. You could confirm or rule this out by running off an aux fuel tank.
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.

Drained the tank, made sure all the hoses were clamped up tight. It helped a whole bunch, but didn't totally solve the problem. I think I may have to drop the tank and do a thorough cleaning of all the lines. I feel like the flow may be restricted and it's causing some issues. The smoke is just because the rings are shitty from sitting so long.
I was able to replicate the problem consistently:
1. Push the pedal at least 3/4 in 1st
2. Shift into 2nd
2. The car stalls out
3. Turn the car off, wait until you feel like trying again, then start it back up
4. Drive until you push the pedal too far again and repeat step 3
Of course it's not limited to 1st and 2nd, but you get the idea.

That's what I was thinking, but in order for that to be an issue they'd have to get stuck open, right? Maybe a little return spring on the secondary could solve the problem. I'll look into that tomorrow.Laecaon wrote:Maybe that is when the secondaries open.

Re: 71 510 wagon - Mexican Red
I recently lost a fuel pump I thought, I was good when I was not pushing to deep into the pedal, but I haul a trailer around, anyway everytime I let up on the pedal and coasted for a while, the bowls would try to fill up, and then I was good for another 1/4 mile.
It turned out to be a plugged valve I had, when I blew air backwards back into the tank, it was better for a couple days, and then went back to starving out again, I could see the fuel slowly rise in the fuel filter while idling, but when I removed that valve that was there to change tanks, and I started the truck, the fuel gushed into the fuel filter fast, have not had any issues since.
Your issue could be plugged lines, a kinked hose, crap like rust flakes in the tank, or maybe even a bad fuel pump.
I just read your previous posts, you can actually see fuel in the bowl, if you can see fuel in the bowl, then it's not a fuel supply issue, as when I removed the tops of my SU bowls, they were dry, and I start old engines every once in a while by just filling up the bowl and starting the engine and running it till the bowl goes dry, and it runs fine till the bowl goes dry.

I'd plop those fuel lines into another temp container and run the shit out of it.. if no problems time for a look at the fuel lines/tank.

Still have the alleged fuel issue, but I'll have to hold off on fixing it until the first of the month.

Nah, I've got one. Took it off to break the wiper linkage loose and clean the mulch out. Put the linkage on upside down so I've gotta flip it back around or something still.draker wrote:Do you need a windshield cowl?
