Good eye guy!
They cut it 1" to short.
And the cover was not put back on.
So, now I have a new one, which is bigger.
It is 1/4 to 1/2 inch thicker, I can't remember off hand.
Also trying to put the trans on with the old mount, I had to stuff the tranny forward about a 1/2 inch too.
So they replaced it.

Ah, yes.
I am having some made, to see if we can cut some of you guys cost.
I drew them up and sent the drawings to the master CNC professor, I know.
He machines are tied up right now.
He is going to have some college kids make a the ones I ordered.
I am wishing he tells me, I can sell them for half or at least 30 bucks cheaper than the 90 dollar ones.
Once i get the first ones, and make sure they fit, We will put in a bigger order. Maybe 2 different sizes like 1" and 1-1/4".

Can't knock them because, it was a no problem issue.
I was even able to drive my car around while a new one was made to fit!
Good eye!

Re: 1969 Datsun 510 Goon
What is the reason for the 1 1/4" bump stops ? From what I've read, people have installed the 1" bump stops.Doctoraudio wrote:Ah, yes.

I'm in no hurry, yet and don't want to say I'm in until a price is set in stone but so far I like what might be the price.
Also will the hardware be included ? Probably not but thought I'd ask before someone else does.

Re: 1969 Datsun 510 Goon
The reason for them is this. I have talked to a couple guys and they say 1-1/4 is about as low as you can go with out touching the inside of the rim.
(ball joint)
I also just saw a kit from another company, that says they are 1" but we measured them and they are 1- 1/4.
Clearly on the package and the web site all the talk about is 1".
So I had 3 sets made.
In these sizes 1", 1- 1/4" and 1-1/2"
So I am going to try and see if the taller ones fit.
Which means I can got pretty low in the front.
If not then I will just mill them down until they do fit!
Then I will, know which is the max and what is good for basic drop.
I don't want to make money on this project.
I will be the middle man at first and then, I won't have nothing to do with it.
Except for I have them on my car.
So I am wishing, that all goes well.
Because 90 bucks seems a little high.
A cnc can spit this out time after time all day long as long as you have bits and power!

Re: 1969 Datsun 510 Goon
Moving is almost over. Have to be out on Tuesday 12:00 midnight.
Lots of our stuff was transported in the 510.
My wife is a moving freak.
She is like a little She-Hulk!
Thank you, whoever!
Must be the Samoan in her.
I have almost found all the tools, I have been bitching about for the past 12 years.
LOL!
Oh yeah, eating my words!
Just missing 10,11,12mm rachet wrenchs.
I found the rest of the 17 piece set, I won about 14 years ago.
Walked in and grab a ticket and bam.
Found the rest of the steering wheel and horn button.
Awesome. I knew I hadn't gone over the edge.
Now that I think of it , I just remember what may have happened to my column cover.
About a year ago, I told my boy to throw some things away.
And he grab it and some parts I made of CF.
I didn't realize, what had happen until after the garbage truck had crushed the load.
I was pissed, but I told him, and didn't say not that bucket!
Also got my 10,000 watt amp unwrapped and loaded in the car!
I have two of each
Man, I forgot how heavy it is.
I am a freaken nut for power!
Tomorrow we dump all the stuff on the floor in the garage.
Then I can bring the stuff down from the attic, I made 13 years ago.
Monday, I am going to bleed my brakes one more time.
When I am at a light, I can feel it dropping brake pressure really slow.
I am going to do that before I replace the whole system.
You know, new stainless lines and calipers.
May be a good time to switch to bigger brake rotors.
We will see what come available soon.
End of this month is tire and alignment time.
I still got a leak. It is about a 2 day leak.
I am carrying my spare.
It is 3.7 miles to the new place.
I can't wait, but the house was more important than tires right now.
Better to wait and buy what I want.

I am waiting for the Bump steer spacers to show up in the mail.
They have been made and should be here soon.
So I bought some books off of Amazon.
These are what I bought.
How to Modify Your Nissan/Datsun OHC Engine
Honsowetz, Frank
Sold by HVF Books

I got all three books for 48 bucks!
Should help me figure some things out.
