Done measuring with micrometers at this point , and the crank checks out ... at least as far as I could tell (multiple checks on some journals haha)
I used a short cut on my coding system since my left gets strained ;)

Those darn mics can be tricky to read if you don't do it all the time. I usually google a bit for a refresher before I dive in.. lol

Amen to that ! ... lol .. I have to breath in-n-out carefully while holding a steady hand , and even then it's sometimes still not good enough while getting a reading lol. So I take a couple more readings to verify that I was just being dumb .. :D .

I already have a full Fel-Pro gasket set for this engine.

I also have a new(it's been sitting around waiting for orders) Beck/Arnley Timing set to install on this engine.

Had been trying to decide honestly if I want to hone/re-ring the engine , but the compression numbers really are too good.. to dink with yet the time to do so is now if I'm going to do it at all. I can get a set of Grant piston rings for $40 shipped or something like that (they've been fine in the past) . I've been looking at other brands as well.

I'll have to think on piston rings or if I'm doing that at all for the standing moment , and I have some time to decide in between while the bearings ship + I work on other stuff.

Grabbed my flexshaft/grinder/carver motor thingy ...

A clean center punch would have worked wonders. I skipped that step.. and as a result had offset holes. ah well! next time I guess. haha

I was going through and inspecting the head today. Was planning on adjusting all the valves. Well not sure why I didn't realize right away this head needed thread-certs for the hydraulic-lifter to mechanical-lifter conversion it under wen't before I took possession o the car. Sorry Arche I remember you told me that it was converted when I was chatting with ya ... I have no clue why I didn't connect 2 + 2 together lol.

Its nice having a nice new oil pump. Course, a KA pump isnt much of an upgrade for this motor, as that is what the turbo motors came with stock.

It is nice having a new oil pump !! (Knowing the old ones are typically ok)
Yup ! .. and I've always wanted to say I bought a new KA D21 high volume oil pump for my engine .. not really sure why ... :lol:

Connecting rod bearings came in. (bearings looked good even though the box didn't :shock: :? :| )
Picked up a bottle of Permatex AVIATION FORM-A-GASKET #3 (thinned with 188 proof de-natured alcohol). NOTE: this isn't #1 or #2 .. easier to work with although I like #2 as well. I will never use unless I plan on never touching the part/area again ... #1 (that's what I call it they just call Aviation Form-A-Gasket).
Also a can of Permatex Copper Spray-A-Gasket.

Measuring cylinder walls with my telescoping gauges. (pistons shall be out for all the recorded measurements..plenty of them ;) )

lock the stop(not to wrench on it) and swoop it out carefully. (edges are beveled or slightly pointed .. not flat like my micrometers).
