Also they have small (2'x2'x2') media boxs at hf. The viewing window sucks but the rest of the cabinet is sound. We replaced the view glass, and we used ducting tape on all the seams to keep the dust in.

I made some progress this morning, may not seem like much, but it is to me.
I installed all the hinges gate locks and handle hardware to make the locks release.

Basically I am going to try and get it moving under it's own power first, then I will decide what I will do next.

Thankyou Shane, this is what sucks the time up, doing stuff like that.
I am going to have to replace all these nuts and bolts that hold the bed trim on, they are almost all missing or broken, and some of the nut holders are gone, so I will have to make little holders also, it all takes time.

I put the transmission shift linkage together this evening after I got home from working, it just didn't make sense to me till I figured out that is is connected like a steering rag joint, once I figured that out, it went together without a hitch.
Here is the rag joint area, and the transmission is not bolted to it's mount at the moment.
Here is the top connection for the gear selection arm.
This is the gear engagement connection from the top.
Driverside engine compartment.

Well I got it to hit, but it would not really run, the carb is messed up I think, I was able to keep a very rough idle with full choke while pouring gas down the carb for about 15 seconds, I need it to idle a few minutes just to be sure it is good.
I had to take apart the distributor, I could not get spark at the points, I think that the former owner got in there and messed it up, but he had another distributor in the boxes, so I was able to make one out of the two, but it was ugly looking, I was surprised when it worked.
I will pull the carb tomorrow and see if I can clean it up, it leaks out the glass seal, so I cannot keep gas in the bowl for it to idle off of.

I forgot to mention what I did before I tried turning over the engine with the starter, I took all the spark plugs out and squirted oil in all 4 cylinders, and then I turned it over by hand with the hand crank.
Basically today was a waste of time, the engine would not hit again, well it wasn't a total waste, I did tear down the carb and clean it and put it back together, and now the bowl will hold fuel, but it did not try to hit even once, that distributor is a pain in the ass, I was unable to show current getting through the spark plug wires.
Tomorrow I might warm up the 63 and then take the cap and wires off and put them on this just to see if I can get it to run, if it won't hit then, I will know it's the distributor.

I have a 1926 Ford and starting it with a crank is the way I like to do it, people always get a big kick out of it. The thing is, sometimes you can get a back-fire. Not just old Model T's, it can happen to your old Datsun when you least expect it. If you have your thumb next to your index finger, the crank will simply fly out of your hand. If you grab it with your thumb wrapped around the crank, you will break your thumb. That's not something folks want to see.

I have ignition and fire, I ran about 3 bowls of fuel through it with the choke most the way on, and it sucked that fuel up fast, maybe 20 seconds of run time, but every time I filled the bowl, the better it ran.
I don't have any water in it, no belts connected, no hoses connected and I don't think there is any tranny fluid in the transmission, but it has oil in it, and it got to the valve cover, so there is some kind of oil pressure.
The last time I ran it, I got the idle down to 1200rpms or less, and even though it has no exhaust system, I could not hear anything bad from the engine.
I had to make another distributor, the one that was in it was fucked up, so I took the little internal wires out of the bad one, put them in the other one, gapped the points, tried to make sure nothing was grounding out and installed it on the engine, then hooked up a timing light to it, powered everything up, hit the starter and the timing light trigger and held my breath, I had freaking steady spark for the first time.
I have to say that the way the points get there power is at best sketchy, how it does it without grounding out by accident is a miracle, the issue is likely that I don't have all the parts, how that wire connection stays isolated is a mystery.

OK, my plan was to make an Ei distributor like Mike K. did on my NL320, but I might have an issue.

I do not think I have the clearance, but I don't think I can have them wires coming off the top of the cap like that.

This is what it looks like, have no idea if it will work, but I am not even going to try until I get it to idle.
I need a new carb also, this one isn't working, anyone have an E1 engine that has a carb they don't need.

Searched all my email and texts... nothing. Likely it's in my old work's email which I don't have access to anymore..
I hooked the guy up with a full E1 engine and transmission. He just wanted the block.. or connecting rod. He's local to me.

It has a hole in the side, which I am unsure if it should be there, does anyone think that hole is stock?
