yeah, its got a 1in bore... tech page for it said like 1.06 somethin..

ive been reading around, and its probably a little bit overkill, but when i get bigger calipers and disks later on, ill be good to go.

jason came over last night to hang out when i put the lights up...

today he got the lower control arm off the passenger side while i was at work.. i guess the LCA was binding the bolt. so he cut one side of the control arm off, and it came out.. yay!

soooo, we started on the jig for the uppers, and got pretty far...

















pretty basic jig from what you can see there...

heres what we turned out... i know its not pretty, but its not done all the way either. i have a lot more gusset work to do on it..

buuuut, for the mockup, it seems to be on the money.















thats where we ended for tonight.. im glad to have made any headway! lol...

gonna start on the other arm here soon after i get the first one kinda figured out some more...

all the big building blocks are starting to fall together.. the suspension, the brakes.. im gonna have this well before canby..

okie dokie!

got the uppers done today. first one isnt so pretty, but the 2nd turned out lookin okay.













heres some pics of one mounted up all the way...









the lower control arms still need some cutting to clearance being so low. and a little corner on the back side touches the engine crossmember bolt. nothin to extensive.

and then, i drilled the couple holes in the stock booster mount to bolt the master cylinder to. got some pics of it mocked up. i still need to cut that piece of metal out to go between the master and the mount.









thats all for this day off.. i gotta work a 10 tomorrow, but i think im gonna start workin on the brake plunger rod after work.

big part done today tho.. stoked the arms are done!

aaaand we're back!

got off work early, and got to work on the truck.

stopped by the junkyard and raided the brake liness from the explorer i got the master cylinder from. it had a bigger thread than the other port. its also bubble flared, so ill use the first section of that line, and cut and reflare with a datsun inverted taper on the other end..

got home and built the push rod for for the brakes. im happy to say its made of all nissan parts. the stock clevis, a hardbody aircleaner stud from the throttle body i have and the metal insert from an old upper control arm bushing for the sleeve.. hahaha



i got the plate that goes on the BMC mount cut out and the small holes drilled, but didnt take any pics of it. its not done yet either.. gotta get a hole saw and pop the hole in it in the middle for the master to go through..

snapped one of the passenger side upper bolted on..



got the brake lines out of the engine bay for now.. have the master mounted up for show... i also got a few things over by the intake organized like the heater heater hose and the fuel lines.









ive got tomorrow off and the wife has to work, so im gonna work on truck some more..

fernando hopefully is going to bring a hole saw so i can get the little brake plate done. i need a brake flare tool/kit too.

we'll see if anything else turns out tomorrow.. i might go by the metal recycling place to see if they have anything i could use for the back setup.. again, we'll see..

okay kiddies! update time..

front suspension is technically done.

i have the uppers built, the lowers are bolted in for the last time.

made the mounts for the new tension rod locations.

shot from the bottom.. im gonna hack off the old tension rod mounts one of these days...







this was the spacer situation on the lower. it needed 1 spacer in the back, and 3 in the front.



wrapped it up with tossing a wheel on it to see where it would be when i set it down.

mind you, i havnt rolled the front tin anymore yet. it has 1.25in of extra track width.

gotta get the torsion bars set up again after i took em out.. should be able to set it down after that. i still need to get the brakes done though, so it might be a bit before it hits the ground..

I had not check this thread out since you got the timing chain, oil pump, and what not. You've been busy, haven't you?

I like the way you're going about this. No hold barred, joke 'um if they can't take a fuck ... so to speak.
Here I'm happy with a second set of LCA to get Z'd for a 2" drop - but this blows me away.

yeah, ive been trying to bust ass on this..

thing is, i have to do it all over again on fernandos 620... before canBy... lol.. this is the guinea pig for balljoint swap, and disk brake setup.. so we'll see how it works..

i am getting down on the list of stuff to do tho.. the brakes and 3 link are the next big things to works on..

more update...

picked up the tool for the brake lines.. got the double flare set, tube cutter, and tube bender..

already made the lines to adapt the ford master cylinder to the datsun brake lines...

the ford uses the same 3/16 line as the datsun, just uses bubble flares.

gotta find a place to pick up a handful of m10x1.0 unions. woot! the end of the tunnel for the brakes is in sight!

update time!

minus the soft brake lines up front to the calipers, the brake system is all done.

the lines are ran and connected. took a little bit to get it figured out, and its not pretty. but pretty isnt what im going for.. soooo..





the master cylinder is final mounted.. had hardware to get it put together.. again, not pretty... dont care..



and then got the engine and accessories bolted on. cleared up a bunch of wiring. just a bunch of little shit now that the brake lines are there...





this is whats left to buy and to do.. circled stuff is to buy and the others are to do.. lol

okie dokie!

got a few things done today.

got the torsion bars in and roughly set.

put the other front half of driveline in that has the good carrier bearing.

thought about welding the 3rd member, but decided against it since im not going to do the link setup yet. ill weld it after i get the rear suspension firmed up a bit.

tossed the bed on it. havnt bolted it down, but its on at least. gonna hook up the fuel lines an electrical here soon.

got the bumper and valance back on the front too.

last but not least, its back on the ground again!!

things ive noticed is ill have to trim the fender to get my turning back... tire is running into the very front of the arch.



i have to put the torsions up a bit more.. im thinking they are getting kind lame and dont really hold up the truck very well anymore.

woo! productive day again!

went to the jalopy jungle with jayden and found a 3.89 3rd member for his 521. welded up a spot on his exhaust too.

after bill took off i got the bed bolted down, hooked up the fuel lines, the sender lines, power for the fuel pump and the taillight wiring.



cut the old muffler off and welded the magnaflow on. i still need to make some sort of a turn out for it, but its fine for now.



tossed the radiator in, and got the fan wiring hooked back up.





and then i went a little crazy on the front arch on the fenders...





ill need to take a real hammer and dolly to it, but hey, it didnt come out too bad for just a small sledge and a chunk of wood. i did get much of my turning radius back tho...



i think i have the torsion bars set for now too.. i might crank the drive side up a bit for when im in it..







and the list is pretty much down to just stuff to buy..



and a random of the garage.. lol



the wife gets paid today, so tomorrow im gonna go get some brake lines and tierods on thursday to get this thing goin..

and so concludes this fun filled thursday...

got alot done today..

like expected, i got the brakelines, tierods and a set of shocks. got a set of tierods off a d21 and they were too long and had a weird bend in em that hit the frame. i went back and swapped em out for another set from an 85 4x4 720. right on the money with the 720 ones. they have a turnbuckle type of adjuster instead of the sleeve clamp the others had..

got the brake lines from another 85 720 in the yard. they work great.

got the shocks from a wd21 style pathfinder. dont know what year, but it was a v6 model.

the tierods need to be tightened up, but i have a baseline toe adjustment set. 56 1/4in on the backside tread and 56 3/4in on the frontside. its easy to push back and forth. we'll see how it does...

shocks are mounted and final, gonna get the tierods finished with cotter pins...

last but not least....

the brakes work!

the pile of junk works! got the brake bled this evening, and while only rolling it in the garage, they feel like theyre gonna work great!

pedal has about a half inch of soft modulation area, and then firms up just right. still need to drive it and see if they "really" work, but i think i got it!

last things to do are change the oil and filter, get a piece of aluminum pipe for my upper radiator hose, fill it up with coolant and see it i can get it running with the new coil.
