So, I am heading back to NoDak tomorrow . Gotta make moar Datsun moneez. Got 2 of em moochin off me now.

I gave my son a small listypoo of things he can do while I am at work.
First he is going to rip out all the old smelly stinky wet carpet. Truck smells like an old RV from 1979!
Second I am going to show him how to take the cowl off and clean all the drain holes inside. It doesnt rain like POrtland here but it is supposed to quite a bit the next few days.
Also, he is going to start her up every few days, keep the battery fresh and what not.

Here is a list of things that need to be addressed sooner rather than later.
- Brake master works the front brakes only. If you pump it twice then the back ones work. Needs replace

-oil light did work but now no worky

-temp gauge and gas gauge no worky. It had a major oil leak and everything was coated in oil. Since Adam went crazy with 27 cans of brake clean, everything is clean and I think all the connections just checked out. Will check out the gauge cluster too. I do have an extra layin around. We did install a new temp sender and still no dice. The wire to sender has power...

-Front end work. Ball joints, tie rods, bushings, etc. It doesn't pull to one side or the other unless you hit a big enough bump. Has a slight wobble at 70 then smooths out. Will get tires rebalanced as well.

-Wiper linkage needs some attention. Its a little worn out and the wipers dont reach their full potential.

-Possibly replace oil pan or fix the hole in this one. Someone plummed some shit into the side of it and it does leak a tad.

So far thats really all I can think of at the moment.

I think when I come home in a few weeks I will get it registered, fix the gauges and drive it to the Bakken...

Probably a bad voltage regulator for the temp/fuel gauge. If both dont work, thats usually the issue.

Hmmm...fuel gauge goes to 1/8th and thats it. Temp gauge got nuttin.

oil light is probably a bad connection or a dead sensor. under 10 bucks.

Also, the pumping the brakes. Don't go and replace that master just yet. When the brake shoes wear down, it takes more fluid to push the shoes out and hit the drums. Pumping them pushes them out... Adjust the rears, or replace the shoes if they are worn down. that should fix your issue. I thought I had brake problems too, its always just been the rears are out of adjustment. They aren't self adjusting like newer nizzans. Adjusting them is free, if that don't work then do what you do... It's always a mystery to me which way to adjust them out lol. So i just remove the drum, adjust them out some, put the drum back on, try and spin the drum back and forth repeat till its snug.

Brand new shoes, wheel cylinders and cleaned adjusters and reinstalled inn the rear. Brand new pads on front.

**Update time**

Got home from work yesterday and found that the boy ripped out all the carpet. The floors dont look too bad. It sure as hell smells better in there now!!

While I am home this time my priority is going to be getting the temp gauge and fuel gauge and oil light to work. I do have another gauge cluster that i can see if works. I drove it yesterdY and the fuel gauge did move from empty to full. Few miles later it was empty again...hmmm.
Anyways I get thise things fixed and its a driver till I get some kingpins and bushings and shit for the front end.

Also before he is allowed to drive at night I will need to wire in a new license plate light.

the fuel gauge did move from empty to full. Few miles later it was empty again...hmmm.

I'm sure you know this, but I just wanted to suggest that you check the float on the sending unit.

If the float of your gas tank sending unit has a small leak, it can drain when it sits for a while. When the float is empty and you put gas in the tank, it will work as it should - but with fuel in the tank - it will start filling the float again, until the float doesn't float (sinks). I've had that problem before, that and a poor ground connection - but a poor ground connection usually has different symptoms.

I'm glad to hear it doesn't smell so bad anymore

The last 620 I had was like 12-13 years ago and I was not nearly as concerned about preserving it as I am today. I got friends down here with 620s and I am pretty sure we will finger it out.

It is amazing the differences in this truck vs. my 521. Both sat unattended for 6-10 years. The difference being, this one sat in PDX area. However, no biggy! We will get her on the road and make everything work!!

Rainy, crappy day today. Nothing you PDX guys aint used to right?

Anyways, took it for a night spin last night to Nampa and back to pick up a patio table the wife found on CL.
Headlights do need some adjustment, lol. Been driving it quite a bit actually. Got new plates and title transferred to my name.

My wife likes riding in it now! She commented the other night that she could see herself driving it!


Got mildly motivated today and pulled her into the garage.


Took the top plate from 521 and threw it on. I think it goes better with the green.


I cleaned up the 620 plate and threw a pink NW sticker on it.

Finished cleaning up the floor and stuff. Vacuumed up about 1000 screws!! FUUUUCK!
Very happy with the floors. No holes and cab mounts are not rusted out!











Then I crawled underneath and cranked the torsion bars down...A LOT! Need more low in front!! Gotta drive it around for a bit before pics of that.
