Re: Jacobs goon build
Um...
Well for the longest time I was set on Ground Control plates. Since they had castor as well. But then I saw a picture of the T3 plates without hardware, and then I concluded that GC and T3 stuff are identical. And since T3 is like half the price...
They are pretty. They are also red. Besides my tail lights, I dont have red on the car... Sigh. Nor gold, double sigh.

Re: Jacobs goon build
You could just use them as a template.
I didn't say that.
You shouldn't copy the Kameari chain tensioner either.

Nor the tensioner retainer?
Actually I want to copy just so I can get rid of the red.
Also, I really dont feel like messing with the bearings...

Just scuff plates and paint them. White perhaps.

Sodium hydroxide is supposed to remove anodizing from aluminum. Could always just strip the red and gold and polish them.

Yes, I could strip it, and the camber plates may be alright to do, but stripping removes a layer of oxidation. And im not sure if that is such a good idea on like the coilover sleeve.
Eh, you cant see from the top once the little covers are on, and its kinda dark to be looking up skirt.

I really dont care for the gold/red combo they chose either, the red looks pink to me, and gold... well I would prefer something else.
But it is what it is. After there installed I was all "meh, colors dont bother me too bad...
The camber plates tho, mine mount from above, dont want the gc red and gold. Lol

Re: Jacobs goon build
I left the struts in front of the shop Jessie.
I ground down the weld from the original spring perches. Cleaned out the oil from the tubes. Cleaned the spindles. And then removed the dust shields. Of course that actually means stripping every screw, and then drilling the heads off. Those ones were all dented, bent, and the rust looked bad on them. My current ones are rust free and fairly straight.
Let me know when you get around to it!
In other news. I started to polish wheel number 3. Took it to 1000 grit. Then I started to polish them, and then it hit 8 and I decided with the wind that I should wrap up.
What I do know, Oven cleaner didnt touch the clear coat on the rims... bleh.

Re: Jacobs goon build
Look great! Too bad you don't have struts to hang them on.
I got tied up with other duties yesterday and couldn't get to them before the rain started. Tomorrow afternoon or more likely Tuesday after work look promising at this point. You'll be the first to know when they're ready.

Awesome! Im not too worried. Its Oregon and it rains for no reason. I have plenty of other things to do to the car.
For anyone wondering, my new work schedule is 6-4:30 Mon-Thru. Yep 4 10s. Not sure how much access to the internet I will have during work, not that it bothers me.
