Re: Jacobs goon build
So today was about colors!
First some paint!
Then some clear:
I have yet to pull the masking.
If I really wanted to make this look nice, I would have sand blasted the centers. Eh. They are just Rikens.

Re: Jacobs goon build
And then onto the coilover sleeves. Yea, the red just is not my thing. So went to Home Depot, grabbed the only drain opener that had a plastic bag on it with a money back guarantee, and I got to work.
Red sleeve:
Took a second, but then it started to react. Frothing at the mouth! AMP can didnt even get touched...
Onto the other side...
MMM shiny. I just sprayed it off with the hose. I made sure to spray with lots of water to dilute it alot.
These are a good idea:
This is what I used, and yes it really did heat up the aluminum. I was kinda surprised...:
And with the collars on:
So with that done, Im thinking I might try something for the camber plate tops that I have never seen anyone do, nor can I really find anyone on the internet doing it.

Re: Jacobs goon build
Your struts are done. I ran out of aluminum oxide in the middle of the job and ended up taking them to work to finish them in the cabinet. Anyway, I'll leave them just outside my garage door (the house, not the shop) so you can grab them if you want something to do on your day off.
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.

YAY! That is something to do! More motivation to do things. Care has been in the air for awhile now.

Re: Jacobs goon build
MMk. Struts struts struts.
Picked them up from Driven's house. Instantly figured out where I wanted the rings. Welded those things on. Then I tackled the dust shield screws. 6/8 came out by finger. The other 2 I drilled a hole in the middle, hammered an allen key down, and twisted out. So they are all out now. Then I started painting. Same color as the wheels...
Also, needed the inserts from my other struts, but didnt have a spring compressor... So I cut the springs... Channel locks to remove the gland nut, boom inserts out.

Tire hits the sleeves? Where is the issue?

Re: Jacobs goon build
More work today... Got the struts in the car. Shields, and hubs on. I hate wheel bearing grease. Calipers on. Put the passenger wheel on... Sigh. Tire hits the sleeve. Wheel still turns ok, but its dragging. That is with a 5mm spacer. Looks like a bigger spacer and studs...
Same wheel paint on the struts...

Re: Jacobs goon build
Mmk, sourced 9.5mm longer studs, between Baxters and Napa there is enough in stock today. And spacers...
