Wayno, you're over-thinking it. A-series isn't OHC so there's no timing to contend with. Just have to get the "special" headbolt in the right location to oil the rocker shaft. They don't get much easier. There was an old Nissan tech trick to give the 2 rear bolts an extra 5lbs of torque to avoid blown head gaskets.

5 extra pounds? Never heard that, might explain some things.

Your correct, it's been so long since I worked on one, that I forgot that it has pushrods instead of a chain, where is this project at?
Maybe that engine I bought had the timing chain on the front of the block done by someone that was clueless, as I had to re-do it, then the engine ran great, I can likely help, but I don't know where to go, and I ask again, is there a good head ready to be installed?

There's really no reason she needs any of us to do it for her. The A-series is probably THE easiest engine to learn to work on. She could certainly handle it herself with basic tools.
Jamee, if you start a head replacement project thread I'll bet you'd have several real-time helpers to answer any questions or talk you through it. Best part is not having to deal with any of us weirdos in person  .

I think she could do it on her own. Shes bright, and has the motivation.
I think she was right about the territory aspect. Hes a cool guy, but he doesnt want anyone but him to do it.
And he hasnt done it. :| :!: he will. But by now the cam , rokkers, pushrods, crank, cylender walls- rings, bearings are all rusted. Had alot of fluid in it. For several months now.

lol I would love to deal with you weirdos in person! I love weirdos :) Im a super weirdo/pervert so its cool
But, to be fair, the living situation that my man and I are in we are obligated to do work/chores if asked. and he ended having to build a shed and fix 2 cars. I know it isnt an excuse to let my car sit for 4 months. I'm just saying, there was reason to his putting it off. Also I didnt have money the first 2 months.

If/when I get help, I want to be fully involved in the work. I want to be able to fix and work on my car myself.
