Wayno I was tthinking that same thing...

I also thought about just changing lash pads so I did so and was able to get the right clearance. However this is still just a temporary fix.
Lucky this is Rons motor and not mine. He said head get it all checked out and maybe fixed if it can be. I told him to go with bigger valves! Ha

I'll only drive my truck a day like this.. I hope.. I'll take this head off tomorrow after work and slap on the other u67 'one intended to go on lz23' drive it this way tell everything is needed to put the Lz in the 521.. :)

The reason I know about this is because my foot is always deep into the pedal all the time in the work truck, I didn't even get a year out of my new head before it had to be rebuilt again, the machinist and I have talked about this more than once, it will still happen, just much slower with hardened seats.
Using thinner lash pads will also temporarily fix you clearance issue, the follower will just ride the cam lobe in a different place, but your living on borrowed time now, the valve spring is looser, so it will float easier now on that valve, and it will sink faster and faster also.

So I do know a little.

It took me a while to realize what may be going on.
But this is why I'll only be driving the truck tomorrow, then swaping head.. Damn. Hope this other one is fine haha.

Should get my own.

I was going to make one lastnight but I don't have the tools to do so.
I've read a few time about people using a hose or like you said make your own out if wood. Witch is what I was going to do.
Thought I should wait tho.

I was using flexible, flat irrigation hose on the KA I just finished for Lance.

Folded it a few times-stuffed it like a slutty cheerleader at the homecoming party.

However... I'm hungry cuz I haven't eaten anything. So I'm taking a beeeezzzong hit! And get me some food... I'llpost ppicture of the head.

head swap was quick dude. jesus..

When I swap heads i spend a good 2-3 hours or so scraping the fucking head surface off and block surface :| Probably a bit excessive.

Those discs are really that safe to use on the heads/manifolds huh? Do you go till its completely clean or just give it a good once over and call it good or what?

Assuming its OK for the cast iron block...

Dude that thing is sweet! And I've used them on the Mani gasket before and work great.
I clean tell clean! Trying not to really press hard. It was also fast cuz there wasn't a problem. Hg came off easy and the surface wasn't anything bad, some fine sand paper would have got the job done..

Oh and it's rubber. Its not really scratching anything I don't believe.

Clean, as in almost like back to a fresh machined look. Cause they are that good.
