Re: Rotten Red Goon
Put the 210 IR alt on. Wired up a bosch relay for the headlights. Put the 210 strut tops on to drop it a bit lower. Gnarly rake, gotta drop the back 3 more inches to catch up.
But I'm still having issues with my lights so I'm gonna have to go through one of these weekends and pull the harness, clean everything, rewire some of it that I know is bad, then, with any luck, night driving will be less of a gamble.

TODO:
- find bolts for bump steer spacers
- fix electrical problems/clean corrosion
- get some blocks for the rear and maybe modify the tunnel a little bit
- fresh rubbers for the bent apaches
- smooth out the roof, seal it up and paint it a solid red
- put some spacers on the strut top bearings so they don't bind up any more
- ka24eif it doesn't sell before we get tired of looking at it now that I realize I'm too rough on l series engines

Re: Rotten Red Goon
I've had good luck cleaning the fuse box with a small wire brush, dipping in vinegar for a few hours, cleaning the ground at the passenger strut housing, and also the contacts at the headlight relay

Re: Rotten Red Goon
hah, ended another l series today. lost cylinders 2 and 3, finished what I needed to get done today and lost cylinder 4 halfway down river road. guess I should stop using "unknown" condition blocks.
that's 2 that this car has gone through so far.
Guess it's time to actually invest in a nice engine instead of everything else that doesn't matter so much.
Backstory: Last night we pulled the water pump to see what may be the problem with all the pressure and running hot was. Noticed the fin on the timing cover that guides and seals the water was broke off and missing, as well as some cavitation and ground off metal on the timing cover. Put it back together so I could drive it to work and replace the timing cover tonight but that chunk of aluminum had other plans. Somewhere on the way home I lost at least one cylinder, then the engine died like it ran out of gas. I scratched my head, popped the hood, checked the plug wires, ignition grounds, all that noise, scratched my head again, closed the hood, started it. Heard a grind and a clank, lost about half my power and limped it home. Pulled plug wires 2 and 3, no effect. I made it home on 1 and 4, dinked around with shit, it ran a little better so I tried driving it again. Got stranded about a mile from home, Zach grabbed the 720 and we yanked it on home with a couple ratchet straps behind a truck with bad brakes.
So here I am with a clean slate. A KA in the garage, a car that needs rewiring anyways, and enough knowhow, cheap tools, and time on my hands to maybe make something really cool out of this car instead of just driving it into the ground.

Was it an L16 or 20?
Also, do you have a spare matchbox I could borrow for testing? I just need the box, but i'd swap a dizzy for a second just to check.

^^Fixed^^
When the only tool you have is a hammer every problem starts to look like a hippy.
Re: Rotten Red - The Engine Eater
Dad and I put three engines in my 520 by the time I was 16. I was hard on them too. Mine were J13's and one J15.
Do you still have your SU's?
