I love so many of the cool tricks on this coupe ... including that strut tower bar!draker » Wed Jul 09, 2014 9:16 am wrote:That strut tower bar is bad ass.
I vote that you paint it "go-faster" red!
Is it made out of oak or another hardwood, or is it something like doug fir?

Treated red cedar, gracefully aged in a stack of limbs in the mud. For that "lived in"sort of look. Lol
Got home alittle early, and pulled the engine. And there was no metal in the oil, wich is weird since there was some when I changed the oils 1000 miles ago.

Re: the mine now coupe.
The middle of my exaust was new, lol.
To bad the mounts are welded to my frame rail.
Found some leaks, passenger side wheel seal gave out, drum is full of oil. Front pinion seal gave out, oil everywhere, rear tranny seal gave out, oil everywhere, front trans seal gave out newish clutch soiled.
I realy need to come up with an h150 quickly,

I wish I was at this stage of my build
I still have rust repair and fender mod. Engine building is going on right now.
I love this Coupe. Its the original color of my little beast too.

Re: the mine now coupe.
Its a struggle sometimes, but if ya try to do one or 2 small things a day it gets done alot better, even if its just a few things to get closer to doing something big.

Re: the mine now coupe.
Like cut a few mounts off, then the next thing you know. Bam!
Now im making some mounts, one problem I didnt think about was fuel pump clearence, so I might have to ditch my airbox and make something else.

Re: the mine now coupe.
Engine mount finished, and trans mount finished, trans mout doesnt look like much but since its bolted up thru the floor I used 3/8 plate on the top, and 3/8 1x2 unistrut for a crossmember, welded a plate to the middle and used a 1x3x7 inch peice of polyurethane for a trans mount. Also for the passenger side motor mount, to make more room for the fuel pump.
Looks way crooked to the driver side, but its actualy 3/8 to the passenger side.

Re: the mine now coupe.
Thanks to kipp, and derek who stop by to hand me stuff and bullshit, made things go alot better (funner not faster)
Kipp even laid a couple rosette welds on my motor mounts.
Phone was too dead to take pics, barely got that one, and the flash would work, but the unistrut alone could have probably held the trans up, but I welded some pretty thick plates in, anyways. Derek was really concerened that I was so willing to drill 6 holes in the floor, but I wanted it to stay installed, I will probably tack the bolts to the plates in the cab, so I can easily bolt and unbolt my crossmember without someone inside holding the bolts and plates.

hell yeah. they will never go out of place again. plus if you just lightly tach a little spot, you can always get it out easy if it ever strips. looks good dude. cant wait to see it in person.

Re: the mine now coupe.
I removed the rubber isolators before I welded em, so ill have to remove em one more time. Reinstall the isolators, and bolt it back in.
If it didnt throw my engine angle off I would leave the isolators out, the in and out stuff is getting old.
