521 Bumperettes

#1

Post by 521 »

So I watched a pair of OEM Bumperettes for a 521 (w/brackets and in excellent condition) sell for $611.00 on EBay this morning. That price seems excessive. Are they really that rare? :aykm:

They are somewhat rare, because a lot of them were removed by dealers so they could install heavy duty bumpers with a hitch.

This topic came up when I posted a set I found on Craigslist the other day ...

just like a regular public auction, people tend to get caught up in them and normally over bid on what there worth. Been there, done that.

All I can tell you is keep watching Ebay, another set will show up eventually, just be patience.

or go to your local pull and save, if there's one near you. GL

I get a kick at looking at the bidding history. That auction started out at $250 and it looks like there was an early bidder willing to go to $300, then you will see someone offer more and I've got to wonder if that's a legit bid. Sometimes folks have a friend (or just another account) jack up the price in an auction. Then I see another person who was willing to go to $601.99 ... only to be out bid by the same person who jacked it before. That person that jacked the price won it, I don't know. That person who jacked it only has four auctions under their belt, so that makes me wonder, but I guess it could be legit (how would I really know) ???

Keep your eyes open, they come up. If that one gets listed again - perhaps with the seller saying the buyer flaked - I would be suspicious.

So I post this same thread on Ratsun and end up getting sarcastic and degrading reply's. :fuu:

The responses are completely different here on NW Datsun and I just want to say thank you for your knowledgable responses and advice. After all thats why I go to a forum.

Ratsun has a few sarcastic and degrading people. Well maybe more then a few. They just haven't figured them self's out yet or their just happy the way they are. You have to have a thick skin to read some of the comments. Don't take anything personal, that will keep your blood pressure down. I prefer to just skip over that crap and don't respond to their comment. Think it pisses them off when you don't. FREE RENT,

I miss the build threads the most, you could learn lots from them. And the OLD 4 sale threads.

Back in 2007 when Ratsun started, Ratsun was the Datsun form to be on to get lots of Datsun info, that's where I learned quite alot of stuff and I'm still learning but it's got a lot harder since their is more people now and now it's more of a chat line for tupid shit.

well in the last couple of years it's gotten a little more worse. Some Ratsun members have left the site to never return again or just pop in once in a while to see if the attitude has changed. I pop in every day but don't bother reading the threads unless their a build thread or someone has a problem with their Datsun.

the attitude here is more relaxed. We tend to kid with each other for some laugh's but never take it personal, I hope.

anyways, I try to help if I can and so does the rest of the members. Thanks for the kind words, we ALL appreciate the positive thoughts.

hope I've not stepped my bounds
